Learning French For Kids

Alice Said:

How to teach yourself French at home?

We Answered:

Rosetta Stone is always the best for learning a language by yourself at home, but a major downside is that it is very expensive. I would really be careful about choosing a different computer program though, because I know that a lot of the cheaper ones aren't good (as in they aren't as efficient and might make you frustrated).

My dad really loves listening to language CDs, but I can't pay attention to those for more than 15 minutes before it starts to melt into itself.

Olga Said:

Are there any french learning websites for kids?

We Answered:

Depending on her age, I can definitely recommend poisson rouge (www.poissonrouge.com) as an excellent gaming (but really educational site). This is aimed at children aged 7 and below really.
For older children I have used http://www.digitaldialects.com/French.ht… and the BBC French areas in Bytesize and language.
If you ask your child's school they should be able to recommend something.

Have you tried the French Start board game?

My daughters use at their school. The game is fun and interactive. The game also uses phonetics to help with pronunciation.
