Learning French In France
Betty Said:
Am I learning france french or quebecois? We Answered:
The odds are that you are learning Canadian French, which is, in its formal uses, 85% the same as French from France.Connie Said:
Please recommend a Language school for learning french in France (not in Paris)? We Answered:
I spent quite a bit of time at the IS Aix-en-Provence. I love it deeply. Very nice international school - your classmates will be from all over.Aix is not on the coast, but it's a short bus or train ride from Marseille. The school has excursion activities that will take you all over the south of France on the weekends, for a really nice price, with a great guide (George).

What would be the best french to learn? We Answered:
If you are planning to stay in Québec, speaking Canadian French will definitely earn you the reputation of a "local" there. As to good programs to learn French in Québec, The Ministry for Immigration and Cultural Communities (le Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles (MICC), in French) runs free courses of French inside Québec. For more information, visit this link: http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca…
Also, don't neglect practising outside of the classroom: read and listen as much as you can. To give yourself a start, visit the website of Radio Canada (the largest radio and TV network in French-speaking Canada): www.radio-canada.ca. There you can find a wide range of podcasts and video-on-demand to give yourself additional practice in listening.
Finally, do take a look at the following pages:
http://www.olf.gouv.qc.ca/ressources/aut…
http://www.olf.gouv.qc.ca/ressources/div…
These will provide you with more practice materials and activities to do on your own.

How can I get a summer job in France or French Canada? We Answered:
A lot of foreigners go for au pair / babysitting jobs because it's easier to find people that need english speakers. You can also get by, through private teaching english. Or another popular, working in a bar/cafe/restaurant. If you can't find a job with your level of french, you can try pubs that speak english (but do get french clients) so you won't be purely in an anglophone environment. You can also get by as a tour guide. Try craigslist. I'm sure you'll find odds'n'ends jobs there. Good luck and safe travels!Arthur Said:
