Tae Kwon Do learning simple techniques from home?We Answered:
Interesting...I have never heard of a home certification school for martial arts...Honestly, you are correct that the best way to properly and completely learn the techniques is from a competent instructor. Even with home study, you do not have the benefit of being able to practice the techniques in a controlled environment against an opponent, which will leave you at a disadvantage if you ever find yourself in a situation requiring their use.
While I am a TKD practitioner, and would recommend Tae Kwon Do to anyone, if you do not have a school nearby that you can attend then you need to look for what is available and study there. There are styles that will allow for a relatively easy transition to TKD if you find youself close to a school in the future. In the meantime, if you are going to study martial arts, do yourself a HUGE favor and study under competent instructors. You will find that many of the contributors here have studied, and/or are currently ranked black belts in multiple disciplines. As I am sure they will tell you, study in multiple disciplines (not simultaneously) is nothing if not beneficial to your martial arts pursuit.
If you are intent on Tae Kwon Do only, then I would check out the recommended home cert. links. but you truly need to find a good school near you and go there.
EDIT: I was so surprised to hear that there are home study certification programs, I didn't even think about the Legacy site, Phoenix. However, to the asker, I still say that you need to find a good school close by and study under an instructor, TKD or not. You will be cheating yourself out of hands-on practice with other students, and will not be nearly as proficient in your techniques as you could be. Videos are intended to be used as training AIDS, not to teach yourself the art.

Is there a link to the site from the school's website? I know I can get onto, like, JSTOR from home if I go through my university's link to the database but not if I go straight to JSTOR, for example.Byron Said:

Most of the time you do. depending on the state but as long as you can pass your test to get certified your good. You can also try volunteer work and they'll consider that hands on trainingJeanne Said:
Has anyone tryed ICS learning from Home Course ? Are they any good?We Answered:
I know quite a lot of the home learning people from my work. If you can you give me an idea of what it is you wish to study a I can probably help. However, as a general guideline, don't sign up for a course where the provider is also the examiner, for example own brand diplomas. They won't mean anything in the world of work and it also means that there is no standard to which the provider is expected to reach so the materials are, in my experience, quite shoddy.
Have a look in the various review centres on the internet and ignore glowing references written by anybody anonymous as they are frequently written by the provider.
Have a look on the providers website and see if they provide links to sample material, If they don't then they are probably of too poor a quality to use for advertising, in which case you can be confident that they are also too poor to study from.
For computing I would try computeach, for GCSEs and "A" levels I would try Oxford Open Learning, for higher level courses I would try either the OU or the London External Program.

how can i become a flight attendent by learning from home?We Answered:
Hi Elizabeth- honestly you cant learn from home-once you get hired by an airline you will have to go thru their training- for instance Delta will train you in Atlanta- American will train you in Dallas- as far as getting hired- the airline will look at your work history- do you deal with the public? If so you are ok- but as far as learning to be a flight attendant- you have to go to an airline's facility- to physically work on the aircraftLuis Said:
How do I get a certificate from home learning? We Answered:
Actually, the definition of "professional" is someone that has gone to school. Now, as far as getting a certificate, you did not mention what you trained for, but my suggestion would be to contact the professional society for your field and ask them about exams.
Also, what about your tutor? Is that person holding any certifications or have they sat for any exams? I'm sure if they are adept enough to teach someone else on that high a level, then certainly they would have the answers you are searching for.
