I wanna learn korean language online.. But how?

We Answered:

I disagree with the poster above me. To be fluent in a few months? Try years. In a few months you can probably learn Hangeul and some basic phrases. To have a meaningful conversation it will take alot more than a few months

Korean is really hard. I thought Tagalog was hard when I first started learning it but then I started Korean. I have been studying for more then a year now with 3 conversation partners and many Korean friends. It's still really hard. Writing on the other hand is pretty simple it probably can be leaned in a few days. Your friend probably has the advantage since he is already living in the Philippines. Here are some online sites which you might find useful.
Koreanpod101.com and http://korean.sogang.ac.kr/

These are well-known websites for learning Korean and they are free. If you are serious about learning Korean and want some free books online let me know and I will e-mail you a few links.

Good luck

What is the best way to learn Korean Language online?

We Answered:

well, i dunno. i should ask the same question..i am korean american but Suck!!! i can understand better than i can speak or write or read.

anyways, the good thing about korean is that it is phoenetic, similar to english; each word is spelled out by characters that have their own sound. once u memorize the sounds and rules of some of the letters put together, u'll have a good chance of being able to read, however poorly. after that, u probably have to memorize vocabulary, i would suggest getting familiar w/ the characters, their sound, and eventually make flashcards and write down every word that u know or hear, and write down their meanings. and study study study! :) good luck~

Suzanne Said:

what is the easy way to learn korean language? online ?

We Answered:

Firstly, anyone who says "you can't learn it" is a moron.

Secondly, there is no easy way; it is a difficult language and will take time. Be prepared for this. It's not something you'll take care of in a year or two, but it is absolutely a learnable language.

So, how serious are you? If you are dead-set on it, here's some genuine, real advice for truly learning Korean (not my advice, but rather that of a professor who spent 9 years in Korea for no other reason than to learn the language. I've linked his site in the list of sources below)::

http://how-to-learn-any-language.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=7606&KW=korean

Once you get past the so-called basics, you might try supplementing your studies with www.lingq.com. They unfortunately don't yet have Korean available, but you can still use it to learn the language just by choosing another in the meantime (you'll see what I mean when you start checking it out).

All the best, and if you have any questions or problems, come along to the How-to-learn-any-language website and pose a question there. Quite a number of people there have at least some experience in tackling this wonderful, mammoth of a language!

Kathy Said:

How can I advertise for getting students to learn Korean language online?

We Answered:

The demand for learning Korean among English speakers is very low, and the efficacy of learning a foreign language through the internet is not known.
If you developed an effective teaching pedagogy using the internet (or other tools), maybe the Defense Language Institute or maybe even the LDS church would be interested, but it would be a tough sell. Maybe Korean churches with a Korean language program (teaching Korean to English-speaking children of Koreans) would also be interested in effective educational materials. It has been my experience that Korean language textbooks etc. are very poor, and native Koreans are generally very poor at teaching Korean language to others, so I think there may be a market (albeit very small) for some good material.
As far as a fee for tutoring, $20/hr. would be fair, though that would be for face-to-face lessons.

Discuss It!
