Learning Math Games
Anthony Said:
learning games for ages 10-12 such as math or science or reading to help with schooling? We Answered:
There are alot of educational games based on the old favoutires like memory , bingo, gin rummy- for example bingo boards with the answer, but a question is called instead of the number ( the board may have the number 7 on it, but the bingo question is 56 divided by 8, so the child needs to work it out to get the answer) .There are companies that specialise in educational games (learning ladder, Hawker brownlow, etc) BUT research has shown that half an hour a day at the child's appropriate level will yeild results as long it is provided in a supportive manner. Have you also considered that your child is bored (very common with gifted children), being bullied or has another reason for this change in behaviour?Don Said:

what are the importance and effects of math games in learning? We Answered:
Math is problem solving. Some problems require us to thinking sequentially, deductively, and in an organized manner. Very few of us can do that mentally consistently. So it helps if we can "visualize" the solution. Math manipulatives and math games are useful in that way. Sometimes working our hands helps us to not only solve the present problem, but allows us to "think out of the box" to find a new solution.Tina Said:
Simple Math Learning Games with Speech? We Answered:
You can try this Mind Power Series where they do not only teach 2 + 3 = 5 but use pictures and stories, nursery rhymes and poetry to help children understand math concepts. However they are printable activities and not an online game. You can have a look at their samples under Math is Fun Series at http://www.gamesforfunkids.comPauline Said:
What kind of math games can you play with a 5 year old girl?We Answered:
You can use M&Ms or rainbow goldfish (or anything that is different colors, really). Work on sorting the colors with her and then have her decide which piles have "more" and which have "less." For instance, "does the red pile have more or less than the blue?" You can even help her make a bar graph of the different colors. These are kindergarten standards in my state, so that ought to be something she can understand with some help. Good for you for wanting to work with her!Bob Said:
