Why would you want to speak Spanish in India? Are there significant Spanish-speaking communities there?

I would love to learn Spanish more seriously (am currently trying to self learn it), but it's difficult and rather pointless because Spanish is hardly spoken in my country (Indonesia); and the necessary resources and community to help me improve the language are virtually nonexistent.

I don't know about the demand for the Spanish language for India; but in Indonesia it is one of the less popular foreign languages studied... less popular than French, Japanese, and even Korean (I wonder why... who speaks Korean outside Korea anyway?) So even if you get a job as a Spanish teacher, chances are that your classes won't be big, and neither will your earnings be.

The job that comes to my mind which earns quite well, where you get to use your Spanish, is to work for an embassy of a Spanish-speaking country. I've a cousin who does that, and she loves her job! If you're also open to work on a freelance basis, perhaps you could apply as a stringer journalist or special correspendent to a Spanish-language media, submitting your work from India.

I always feel that auditory is always best. Aside from a computer program download from bit torrent spanish lesson to your ipod. This is the best. You can listen to it before you go to sleep, as your getting dress. Even in the bathroom. During breaks you can put your ipod on. The retention is much longer. Any spare time you have in a 24 ohour day. YOu can even use spanish lesson for yur alarm clock in your ipod. If it is stuck in a computer you can only learn when you are in front of it. Good luck try to listen to spanish 24 hours in a day - after a while youll be like a native
