Learning Support Assistant Jobs

Learning Support Assistant...what to expect?

We Answered:

As the husband of a teacher I think you should be ready to enjoy the challenge of interacting with young people with no manners no sense of right or wrong and the firm held belief that the world owes them a favour and as part of the education establishment it will be your job to take abuse, agression and total disinterest. Then again I could be cynical and your school won't be a West Midlands inner city affair with over 50 nationalities of pupils all with their own translator!

Kristin Said:

what are the hours of a learning support assistant and is it right for two learning support assistants?

We Answered:

The hours of an LSA depend on the school's needs and therefore are dictated by your contract. The school is in control of what they need / want and will employ as such. It may not seem fair but it is not necessarily wrong. Am I right to assume you were employed at different times?

I am a Foundation Stage teacher with a Nursery class adjoined and work with 5 LSA's who are all on different contracts - they don't even all get the same pay as some are on old contracts with less money.
