Try your local library - the books are free! I like the "Dummies" series of books.

Books about learning web design and development?

We Answered:

The "for dummies" series are a good way to learn a lot about just about anything. You can find these books in just about any book store. One of the 1st books you should try is "HTML For Dummies". Once you learn html (hyper text markup language) the rest of them are easier to understand. You can also find any of these books at http://dummiesbooks.net/ I hope this helps and good luck.

Angel Said:

learning web DESIGN ,is there any importance Knowing all codes and did all web designer imput off head?

We Answered:

Mostly, yes (otherwise, you spend more time returning to your books than writing the code!)
Viewing the "source" of a site will ONLY show you HTML and some javascript: that is only 1/100 of the REAL coding
If you only know HTML and javascript, you know nothing and cannot develop any kind of "reasonnable" website: there is much, much, much more to it than that...
To be a good developer, you need to learn a lot, and that can't be done in a few days...
Sorry!

Josephine Said:

I am learning web design and I want to know how to start offering my services to people?

We Answered:

As a hiring technical manager for a large company, let me give you my two cents...

First, do whatever you can to make yourself visible on the web. Even if it is just your own personal website that has your resume. Experiment on that site to try and make it spectacular with cutting-edge technology. When I see websites like that, it shows me that you take initiative and that you are not afraid to (or unable to) try out new things. I always try to find people that like to "tinker" in computers. To them programming is a passion, not a job.

Second, you should also decide on what your target organization should be--a small organization or a large organization. A small organization will require you to know about a lot of different things, however you probably won't need to have an extremely deep knowledge in any one thing. In a large organization you will need to probably specialize in a single piece of the web development--database, back-end service, front-end design, etc.

Third, specialize. I would pick one or two technologies that you really want to specialize in. For example, say you want to be an expert Flex/Flash programmer. Dig into it and really learn the ins and outs of that technology as well as continually staying abreast of all the developments in that technology.

In the end, just be patient. It took me over 6 months to get a job out of college. I have now been with that company for over 10 years. Continue improving yourself...it will happen.

Cassandra Said:

What is a good name for a web site about learning web design?

We Answered:

If you're website is somewhat formal, I;d suggest something like "Webmaster: Web Expertise" or something like that.
It it's a friendly, informal-ish site, then I'd recommend something awesome like "Web Bean." No one can resist a site who's emblem is a sizzling coffee bean.

Discuss It!
