Ideas for Service Learning Project on Breast Cancer? We Answered:
In college an organization I was in sold pink t-shirts that said "Think Pink" on the front and had a ribbon on the back. The shirts were light pink with dark pink writing and sold very well. Girls love pink (most!) and many guys bought them for their mothers. We had to reorder the shirts several times so be prepared for that. You don't want to order too many but you don't want to not have enough either. If you can get a sample made and take orders that would likely work best. That way you can get the best "bulk" discount possible. Mention to the t-shirt vendor that the profits are going to charity and they may be willing to cut the price (but don't assume...everyone needs to make some profit) We sold them at a table in the campus center from about 10-2 each day for several weeks. We kept the prices reasonable because college students can't afford much. Many also don't keep cash on themselves. I think the shirts were great because they raise awareness and money. We also had information at the table about breast cancer and self breast exams. We also had a brunch where we had speakers that were survivors of breast cancer. We had the meal catered by the school dining service and we also had a silent auction with items that members of the group bought or had donated.
We also had a night at a bar where we brought in a band (friends who played for free). The bar allowed us to have baskets out for donations. We also passed out free ribbons for people to wear. We didn't make much but it was a fun event.
Between the shirts and the brunch we raised $7,000! We also sold pink rubber bracelets one year but those did not sell as well.

what service learning projects to do with special ed kids?We Answered:
I don't know what type of area you are in, but easy ones are picking up garbage in a park, planting flowers, singing at a nursing home, making cards for soldiers overseas...kids with special needs can do what typical kids can - just with accommodations.Roberto Said:
What are good ideas for service learning projects? 10 Pts.?We Answered:
Uncurable, and sickening diseases are always fun to write about. Or you could do something on phobias. The randomness of the endless phobias amuse me.Cheryl Said:
