Soccer, basketball, or gymnastics?

We Answered:

Do gymnastics, the other two sports are so overrated.

I'm an ex-gymnast and now a Kentucky Blue-Squad Cheerleader. Gymnastics can branch off into different categories; cheerleading (because cheerleading is a mixture of gymnastic skills), power tumbler (because gynasts ARE tumblers), contortionist (because gymnasts are VERY flexible, which is what you want to be) and dancers (because gymnasts put dances in their routines) while basketball and soccer are just focused on one thing.

I'd go with gymnastics. You're a girl, too. It's just perfect!

When you get good tumbling down and may want to break off into cheerleading (kind of better than gymnastics), you can get scholarships that pay for all of your tuition; neat, right? That's what I did. Not because I wanted a free way out of school, but because I love what I'm doing and that's cheerleading'/gymnastics!

Good luck!

How many activites are too many for a kid?

We Answered:

If your not pushing it and he wants to do go for it. He will eventually pick and choose the ones that he likes. Eventually he is going to get alot of school work and need to cut back.
My 13 year old right now is in an elite year round soccer league which has him at Practice tues, thurs in a town an hour away and games on Saturdays and Sundays. On Monday Wednesday and Friday he is playing baseball with games occasionally on Sat nights. On Sunday Nights he goes to Awana at Church. He is getting his homework done and doing well in school. He is dropping the soccer after the next tournament but that is only because it is costing us to much and would like to have more time on his hands. He will just play for his school team in the fall. If he is healthy, happy and getting good grades and if you don't mind the cost or giving up your time then go for it. Activities such as the one your son is doing keep him away from, sex, drugs and alcohol when he gets older.
