Bullying Lesson Plans

Julian Said:

How do the rest of you teachers deal with these sorts of things?

We Answered:

Try to get the principal on board with strict, very strict rules in your classroom. Explain the volatile air in your room these kids are creating is hindering opportunities for all the students. I mean you can't be expected to make the kids learn if they don't want to. SO, make the parents make their kids behave better, I seriously doubt these parents want to be hindered in their already stressful lives, so suggest policies of bullying and insubordination with teachers will absolutely not be tolerated in any way shape or form. The squeaky wheel gets the grease right? So, start squeaking!! If that principal is too bogged down with everything, go to the superintendant. You can only do what you are capable of, you are not a miracle worker, so you are not expected to make this miracle happen! It is every teachers' dream to turn the careless, troubled kids into great learners, but, yeah just start making some noise. Not complain, but just come up with a plan that you need administration to enforce. I mean this bully girl probably has a pretty horrible home life, she is just a kid who probably is lashing out. Try to figure her out and keep her after class one day to see why she acts like that. I bet nobody has ever asked her that before, she'll probably just break down and start crying. Misery loves company.
I know that is more work for you. Administration is there to make sure in part that teachers are able to 'administer' education, and if are not able they have to help you!

Isn't this crazy??? teaching experience traumatizing?

We Answered:

This is something for a blog and not really a Yahoo Answers question, but as a response to your story I know many teachers that can relate.

Teaching is not an easy job. You are required to go far beyond teaching a subject. You have to help raise children to have good manners, character, and empathy for others. You have to complete complex lesson plans everyday and grade papers long after school hours have ended. Principals can be clueless and cruel. Parents often look at teachers as nothing more then babysitters without a life of their own outside of school. It has burnt out many good teachers. Things need to change.

How hard is Boston university's college of fine arts to get into?

We Answered:

It is a competitive school, but if you do well on the SATs, get good references from your school and write a strong persona statement, then you have a very good chance.

Eleanor Said:

please help! Bullying and class freak?

We Answered:

miss moo,
too funny, as moo is my nick name, I swear to it!
In school, people will always need someone to fuss at.. looks like you have been a chosen one for that in your school
when you have to moove..ha ha seats, I'd suggest you stay right where you are, and take out a book! Don't let it bother you, because you are probably smarter than most kids in the school! Sorry you are picked at, but until you make some changes such as maybe a cute hair cut/?? and some cute clothes, and start speaking up, people will ridicule you. It's just the mean way it is. Hopefully, someday we will see you on Oprah doing one of those: You were mean to me, but look at me now shows!
Good luck 2 U Moo... from Moo 2

Should Kindergartners up through grade 5 learn about Gay,Lesbian & Transsexuals Issues?

We Answered:

No. It's an exceptionally degrading thing to do.

Who thinks of these things? Children should not have their minds warped. Are people deliberately trying to destroy society?

God help us.

Tom Said:

Do you think it is possible to turn a school around from failure?

We Answered:

Sadly, this sounds like many schools in America.
It is certainly possible to turn any school around, and this has been successfully done in many areas.
When finances are tight, the most common option is turning the school over to a private company and making it a charter school. This usually involves the education company coming in over the summer and completely restructuring it- physically: repainting, repairs, new furniture, adding updated technology, increased security features; with personnel: replacing all of the administrators, getting rid of many (if not all) teachers, retraining the staff that remains; and in the education aspects: new books, new curriculum, new standards, new procedures, and new discipline and dress policies.
