I don't know if this will help too much but I have an idea for the mail carrier (what a good teacher you will be. You didn't say mailman!) I got a bunch of stickers with houses. I cut out 10 pieces of construction paper (all the same size) and put a sticker on each one. I got some tiny envelopes at Office Depot. I then used a label maker to make an address for each house and each envelope. I laminated the houses. The child could than match the envelopes to the houses with the same address. If I think of something else I'll come back. Good luck!

Depends what community helpers you want to cover?

There are lots:
Police
Doctors
Dentists
Postal Workers
etc!!!

If you covered doctors, you could set up a doctors surgery in a role play area and let them make appointments, pretend to be the doctor if you got a kiddie doctors kit etc. For another activity talk about why doctors are important and how they help us.
