Dance: What's the difference between a two-step and a nightclub two-step?

We Answered:

Two-step is actually a generic term. It really only means that it's a dance that entails both "quick" and "slow" steps. Foxtrot, for instance, is a two-step. But that isn't what your schedule is talking about.
Nightclub two step is a dance invented by Buddy Schwimmer back in the 60's, long before his current fame as father to Benji and Lacey. It isn't really closely related to any other dance, but it is very vaguely reminiscent of bolero in some aspects. My guess would be that the other is probably the C&W dance usually known as Texas two step, which seems best described as a fast foxtrot or slow quickstep turned on its head.

Any ideas lessons plans advice bout teaching singing acting dance to adult people with disabilities, low func.?

We Answered:

I would suggest choosing simple, short, fun exercises to keep them entertained and focused, since that's probably the main problem! Ideally things that combine subjects, such as singing and movement. Also try to give all of them an opportunity to perform so they all feel happy. Don't spend too much time on any one thing, and nothing too complex!

I am a dance instructor at a perofrming arts camp and need some ideas for lesson plans!! help please!!?

We Answered:

Wow! Big age range. You probably want to introduce different dance styles. You most likely have lots of different skill levels, and the age range is challenging.

I would look for ideas that allow people to comfortably perform at their own level. For example, you could ask them each to do a one-minute impromptu (not prepared) dance where they are imitating an animal of their choice. Do African dance in a circle, and let anyone who wants to solo in the middle. There are lots of modern dance exercises you can do, like dancing with a prop of their choice, or contact improv. As skill levels emerge, you can divide them into small groups and have each group choreograph a dance in one of the styles you explore. You can go from group to group offering suggestions without having to structure a way to fill the time. Think fun!

Good luck!

I am planning to take an adult hiphop dance class. I never took a dance lesson before. What should I expect?

We Answered:

If you are seeking a fun experience, A hip hop class is definetly the place to be. (as long as the instructor is good)

You start with a warmup . You know basic arms, leg, stretches. etc. In my hip hop class our instructor usually teaches us a new urban dance move from the streets, but that might not happen in yours. Then you learn a routine thats about 30-45 seconds long.

Its great fun. And dont be scared to get into it. Because thats what youre there for, to dance and get funky. Everyone in the room is there for the same reason, so dont feel like people are judging you.

Good luck
