Design Lesson Plans

Marvin Said:

When designing a lesson plan what do you put in the 'content' section?

We Answered:

it's a little hard to say without seeing the rest of your lesson plan template and what else goes where, but your resources are: playdough, sticks etc etc. so your content would be along the lines of make an identifiable animal and describe the textures included. Think about WHY you are doing this learning activity, what are the desired learning outcomes and how you are going to assess if these have been met. By using strong verbs like "make" and "describe" you can check progress and ensure that each child is able to do these by the end of the lesson (it can also help with time management). Do you have an introductory task, a story or something to give them a strong idea of what they are going to do? Are you going to share with them Why they are doing this? If you have a separate section for achievement objectives then your content could be as simple as "textures identification" but again it really depends on the rest of your plan.

What are you asking?

If you were to design a lesson plan...?

We Answered:

Okay this may sound odd but here is what I do with my 4 yr old twins.

We live in a community where I think we really only have 2 black people. A few native Americans, and we live right outside the rez.

My kids kind of make comments not being rude but just curious, as to why people have black skin or why they are so dark etc...

The best way I have to come to explain it (my in laws are dog people there are 9 dogs for 12 people at fam gatherigns) my kids love All the dogs. I point out that all the dogs look different, but we still love them all. I tell them that people are kind of like dogs, we all look different but are all still people inside.

Would anyone know a good resource for lesson plans?

Read this article http://www.ehow.com/how_4818851_effectiv… It also has a link to Discovery Education. That is the best site I have seen for lesson plans.
