Drama Lesson Plans
Floyd Said:
Can you PLEASE give me some examples of drama therapy activities for children with special needs? We Answered:
To begin with you could have simple dress up type activities like the students wear wigs or clothes of different people. This would also help with emotions. Like if they were in a funny mood they could dress up like a clown, in a bad mood they could dress up like a gang member or a gangster. You could try getting the students to do a short play about something.
Masks to identify emotions and people.
They're the only ones I can think of at the moment

What are some basics I can teach to my drama club?We Answered:
There's so much you can do! :-)You can talk about the different jobs in the theatre and what their responsibilities are (director, stage manager, choreographer, prop master, etc.)
Script analysis is very important. You can take a single scene and evaluate everything that the script tells you out right, and what assumptions it leads you to make - about the characters, the setting, their relationships, etc.
As young people in the theatre, it's important to know what's happening in the theatre world right now. Go over a list of what's currently playing on Broadway. Try to put them into genres and categories. Perhaps you could discuss what types of shows the group thinks it's missing.
It could be fun to pick up a dialect tape from your local library and spend a day learning British accents!

What are some fun things you do in drama class? I really need help..?We Answered:
i love drama class lol. well last year, in my sophmore level drama class, we each broke into groups of 4 or less, and picked a song from a musical (no groups could use the same musical or song). we were given three weeks, to come up with a coreography to the song, memorise the words, and get costumes, then we got to perform them on stage for members of the light and sound class.we did improv comdey, with our teacher giving us diffrent prompts to work with.
we broke off into groups of 6 or less, and each group wrote a ten minute play (every group meber had a part in thier play). we memorized the lines, got costumes, and got to perform them onstage for some of our fellow class mates. we made posters advertising for the plays to get teachers tot ake thier classes to see us.
our entire drama class got together, collaborated, and came up with a topic for a play we though kids our age would realate to. we had someone write the play, someone directing the play, a person working the light/sound board, and a stage manager. we all practiced hardd for maybe a month and a half, and then we performed it for people.
we each wrote 2 page monologue, pretending to be our polar opposite . but the catch is we couldn't do any cliches. (like if a girl was really preppy, she couldn't come in pretending to be an emo scene kid, and claim that was her polar opposite)
we did a monologue of an 'unrecogniseable' where we write a 2 paige monologue, and come in dressed up in a costume. the point is to be someone unique, that no on else would think of and portray that character so well that no one will recognise that it's you. this includes, accents, having a very eleborite costume and makeup. but the rules are that you can't wear a mask. you don't want anybody to be able to tell who the person behind the the costume is, it's a mystery.

What object should I use?We Answered:
The classic is a plain piece of paper, or even a sheet of newsprint, also a cardboard tube, a paper bag, a baby's diaper, a cardboard box, a straw, a pipe cleaner, or a rock.
