Music, Art,Life, Finding yourself.?

We Answered:

You are asking the right questions!

It is very hard, I would say pretty much impossible to know at 15 or 16 what you want to do the rest of your life. Most people are 40 and still don't know what they want to do.

I suppose the one bit of advice I would give you, since I remember feeling like you do when I was 15, is always stick with what you enjoy doing. My opinion is that if your motives are true, you will find the right job/vocation for you... and by that I mean, don't take a job, or go to college to study something simply because you think it is a "good stable job" or because someone has told you it is something you should do. Study something because you are interested in it, or work in a job because you are interested in what you are doing.

THere are many ways to help people without being in the medical profession. Think about whether you would like the daily work of a nurse, find out what that is, because in the end, liking your job means liking what you have to do day in and day out.

Being an artist/musician is a very difficult road to travel, and you have to be extremely passionate about your art/music and have LOTS of training/talent to be successful. If you want to do this, then get some education in music. Even if you want to play in a band, the more educated you are the more versatile you will be and the more versatile you are, the more work you get as a musician.

In my opinion when you are 15 your job is to explore, to try things out, think about what you like, just don't spend too much time worrying about whether it is the right or wrong thing. Just spend time thinking "Am I happy today?" and the more you realize/understand what it is that makes you happy on a daily basis, the more you will find your direction..

Hope this helps...

Is there anywhere I can take culinary art classes online for free?

We Answered:

Aside from going to a professional culinary school, check with your local college for culinary programs...There are a few excellent books available with step by step directions...LA METHODE and LA TECHNIQUE both by Jacque Pepin...also you could try Julia Child's....Mastering the art of French cooking..Volume 1 and 2....the closet thing to online culinary classes would be to make some of the recipes from some of the CHEFS on TV..Check out Food Network.com and click on some famous Chefs.
