Novice viola teacher. Where do I start? We Answered:
As a violin player who has had many useless teacher who didn't know what they are doing here is what you must teach:theory- ABRSM theory is best.
Grades- again i would go for ABRSM
Scales and arpeggios
aural tests
Studies
If you teach all of this then the kid will have a good firm ground to build up more musical knowledge.
In the first lesson ask her to play some pieces and assess her abilities also ask her about theory and grades ect.
Hope this helps however if you are going to teach you should have an idea of how to teach before hand :)

Lessons: classical guitar vs piano? We Answered:
If you want to learn a musical instrument more quickly, then off the guitar you go ! The piano takes much longer time to master.Raul Said:
Looking for a laptop. Never owned. Need to know what to look for in a good one?We Answered:
Here are a few things to look for:Processor: Get the fastest dual-core processor that you can afford, at least 2.4 GHz. DO NOT GET ANYTHING WITH "CELERON" FOR PROCESSOR!
Memory (RAM): At least 2 GB.
Graphics: If you will use the laptop mostly to do work or browse the internet, then "integrated" graphics adapter is adequate and cheaper. But if you plan to run graphics-intensive applications on a regular basis, such as video editing or games, then "discrete" graphics adapter is more satisfying.
Monitor size: To do serious work, the monitor size should be at least 14" - 15" diagonal. Smaller screens are mostly for internet browsing only.
Hard drive: These come in speeds of 5,400 RPM or 7,200 RPM. The faster, the better, or course, but also more expensive.
Battery: If you plan on using the laptop mostly at home or at school, then a standard battery is adequate and cheaper. You can typically run the computer for about 2 - 3 hours without AC adapter. If you plan on using the laptop "on the road" quite often, then an extended battery is helpful (lasts about 4 - 6 hours between charges), but costs more.
If your budget is around $800, then you will need to make a few compromises. Your priority is the processor, so get one that is at least 2.4 GHz for Windows Vista, or at least 2.0 GHz for Windows XP. Also, do not get less than 1 GB of memory (RAM). You can probably live with integrated graphics, a 5,400-RPM hard drive, and standard battery.
For around $800, here are a few good computers:
Lenovo ThinkPad R400 or R500
Dell Latitude E5500
HP G60t
You can look at those and buy them directly from the manufacturers (www.lenovo.com, www.dell.com, www.hp.com, etc.) Another excellent source of computer stuff is www.newegg.com.
