Guitar Lesson Plans
Jack Said:
guitar lesson plans?We Answered:
Depends on what kind of guitar you are teaching. For any guitar style, you should begin by checking out your student's instrument. Play it yourself to verify that the action is appropriate for a beginner, and that the guitar is set up correctly, overall. Make sure the student has any necessary additional items you plan to teach (picks, capo, effects pedals, etc.), or, if they don't, that they at least have an accurate list with specific recommendations. This is a good time, too, to talk about basic handling, storage, and maintenance of the guitar, i.e. how to change strings, how to tune, etc. Perhaps you discuss fingernails, too. With those preparatory basics out of the way, it next depends on what style of guitar you are teaching. For classical guitar, you teach body position, hand position, and start on scales, to introduce music notation. You set up a practice schedule for the student. You introduce the first chord forms, and right hand strums. You work up a short, simple arrangement of a familiar tune, like Malagueña. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFvqmIi9Y…
For acoustic jazz guitar, you might still teach body position, hand position, scales, and notation, but do so within blues scales. You'd work on right hand finger independence, and finger picking, rather than strums, early on. You'd spend more time on chord forms, and transposing keys.
For rock, you sell them lots of effects pedals, bigger amps, and let 'em wail on their Floyd Rose wah bars. Teach 'em open tunings.

Guitar: I'm getting down the scales in all of the positions - wondering what's a good lesson plan next.We Answered:
Make sure to learn all of your modes as well. Ionian (major), Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian (natural minor) and Locrianl as well as the Bebop scale (Major scale with a flat seven so: C,D,E,F,G,A,Bb,B,C) major and minor pentatonic and the different forms of the diminished scales (whole half and half whole) not to mention all of the arpeggios of the scales.... A good practice tool is to goR,3,5,7,9,11,13 then back down
you can alter each of the notes to be sharps or flats so you could do a diminished arpeggio with a flat 9 etc...
Finally listen to great musicians not just guitar players, learn their solos and transcribe them (write them down). And when I mean great musicians I'm talking Coltrane, Bird, Mingus, John McLaughlin, etc... really listen, learn repeat then make it your own. ,Good luck!

I have to plan a bass guitar lesson for my GCSE music? We Answered:
I start my bass students off with learning the names of the strings. We then learn the parts of the bass. I then give them the basic 4X4 exercise which uses the four fingers on four frets.EX:
-2-3-4-5-
-2-3-4-5-
-2-3-4-5-
-2-3-4-5-
This exercise uses all four fingers on four frets and is a great way to develop strength and dexterity.
The next thing I teach my beginning bass students is the names of the notes on the first three frets of each string. I then show them the basic open C major scale.
I also show them how to tune the bass to itself and to a piano or tuner.
The next lesson usually involves learning simple major and minor triads which, as you know, are crucial in understanding the most basic of bass lines. I also spend a bit of time during the 2nd lesson teaching them some basics about reading the bass clef. I use the C major scale that we learned in lesson 1 to do this. (depending on the ability of the student, I may move the major scale to the 2nd lesson)
Third lesson usually involves learning the pentatonic scale in several positions across the neck. Since it is an easily recognizable sound it is perfect for teaching some very simple concepts of major and relative minor.
All throughout these lessons I will review previous material and try to identify areas that need to be reinforced.

How do I plan a guitar lesson for a good guitarist who doesn't know the fundamentals? We Answered:
Well if he has technique down good enough, that's a good start. Unfortunately, people who do this are often unwilling to learn the 'basics.'Start by making sure he knows the notes on the neck; sharps, flats, etc. If that's good, start with the minor pentatonic scales. Those are definitely the most used, they're easy, and sound great!
Depending how much you know, you can teach him different things about theory like harmony, etc.

What are some lesson plans for my beginner guitar class? We Answered:
Do not think that I am picking on YOU - because you can read my Profile - but, if you have to ASK how to structure a class or lessons, then your NOT QUALIFIED to teach. We get kids here who flat out state that want to make some *easy money* by teaching kids younger than them; this is criminal. I spend countless hours every year as a master teacher, undoing DAMAGE done by poor teaching, or trying to make up for all the time that was WASTED by so-called *lessons* from some kid or stoner at the local music store. You ask us to give you all kinds of materials - you clearly do not know where to get them and are too clueless or lazy to do your own research. Do all these kids a big favor - get a REAL teacher to tkae over your "class".
Added - I just read a few of your other questions - you have been playing for ONE MONTH!!!!!!!!!! You know NOTHING - this is all SO ARROGANT of you, to attempt to teach others, when you do not have a teacher YOURSELF, either. SHAME on you!!!!!
