Interactive Lesson Plans

Theresa Said:

I need an idea of a fun and interactive lesson plan to do with my 3rd graders?

We Answered:

Maybe something with art. I teach art and my students are pretty creative.

Tracy Said:

When student teaching can I use my teachers textbook's lesson plans that comes with interactive cd?

We Answered:

Depends on the school, but I don't see why not. You're there to learn how to teach, and while some schools require teachers to find/make their own lesson plans, most schools use a text. So there should be nothing wrong with learning how to use it.

Shawn Said:

Katie Said:

Does anyone know a 20 minute interactive lesson plan for the Salem witch trials?

We Answered:

I think this sounds like a fun idea, but you're going to have to keep close track of your time.

Give everyone in class an envelope in class an envelope with a slip of paper. Everyone has to look at their paper and can't show it to anyone else. Collect their papers. Tell them that some of them have "witch" cards. Whoever is a witch has to try to hide it. Give them 5-10 minutes to talk to each other and try to figure out who the witch is. After 5 minutes, have a "trial". If someone thinks they know who the witch is, they have to accuse them and name their crimes. (You might want to have an accomplice who names a random person. They can even "experience" being tormented in court--like in the original trials.) The person has to defend himself against the accusations. You might even offer a deal if they repent and name other witches. Ask the class if they think anyone else is a witch, and encourage them not to be afraid and to name names. At the end, you can reveal that no one had the witch card.

Discuss It!
