These children especially boys will listen only for about 10-15 minutes and after that chaos. Try giving them scriptures and they are to discuss in a group and after that a spokesperson stands and explain.
Try giving them scriptures after a sunday school and tell them that there will be a debate the next time and they will be divided in two, boys verses girls.
You could show them a short movie That goes with your lesson plan.
Try giving them assignments for the next sunday school and those who do them continuously for a certain period to receice a medal.
A certificate to all who never missed a sunday school for a certain period.
A gift to the person who attends the most in a year.
A general discussion on certain topics with scriptures led by the teacher.

always have some age appropriate activities on hand and ready to use. here are some ideas that ive seen

make rain sticks to represent the sound of the rainforest. by using cardboard toilet paper rolls, tape, and beans.

have playdough and have children sculpt the thing you are talking about or maybe an object in the story your reading at the moment, this keeps them focused on what you are doing and really captures their attention

have some really fun songs to sing and dance to. little kids love to be able to dance and move around.

if you wanted to talk about noahs ark you could get plastic ziplock baggies and fill them with shaving cream, add two drops of blue food coloring to each bag to make it like an ocean and then but little plastic figures of animals inside each one. this is a really fun activity that is mess free because of the individual bags.

thats all i can think of at the moment haha :)

I'm not a teacher, but I attend a class that varies from ages 13 to 16. What my teacher does is that he talks and explains about a topic eg: Vocabulary. Then he supplies work based on that topic but provides the suitable work depending on our age. My class have a small age difference so the difficulty levels in our work are not far apart. However in your case, there is a much larger age difference so I'm not sure what you should do. Maybe you should do the same or create two separate. As I said, I'm not a teacher but that's just my perspective as a student.
