Lesson Plan Objectives

Leon Said:

Why content map or structure ,objectives, prior knowledge, method of teaching important in a lesson plan?

We Answered:

i think u need to read the mentorign book that we give to all our new teacher called "understanding by design"
the framework has to be in place to ensure all the standards are met before a teacher walks into a classroom.
structure has to be in place. students retrieval of knowledge and how well that is done can be key.
the process of teaching and style can vary from one teacher to another.
communication from student back to teacher is key- the more of that happens the more learnign is happening.

Debra Said:

What is behavorial objectives ? How are they involved in a lesson plan ?

We Answered:

Depending on the context, behavioral objectives are one of two things.

1. A statement describing the desired behavior from students (or an individual student if this is being written into an IEP kind of document). This is often part of some kind of special education, 504 or behavior improvement plan. An example of a behavioral objective might be "Joey will express frustration in a verbal and appropriate manner, utilizing his open pass to guidance as necessary." What this really interprets to is "Joey will leave the room instead of kicking the snot out of other students and punching the walls."

2. A behavioral objective might be written for an entire classroom of students if there is a desired, observable behavioral outcome as the result of a lesson. For example, if a teacher spent a class period explaining and modeling positive group work and interaction, a behavioral objective might be: students will work on-task in small group situations 75% of the time.

Hope this helps.

Everett Said:

How Many objectives should there be for each Lesson Plan?

We Answered:

no more than two, because students get frustrated copying out too many objectives and not doing the actual work.

Shane Said:

why is it important to have specific objectives in lesson planning?

We Answered:

so you don't deviate from the specific lessons the kids need to know by the end of the chapter.
