Lesson Plans English Teachers

Natalie Said:

What to expect of being an English teacher in Taiwan for early beginners?

We Answered:

I've been teaching in Taiwan for close to a year. The pay is great, the people are wonderful, there's a great emphasis on education. It all depends on the quality of your school and the ages of your students. The best way to teach in my experience is games. Use this wisely:

I've had a wonderful experience. If you want some more information, you may find these websites helpful:

Teaching English for the GEPIK Program?

We Answered:

I HIGHLY recommend GEPIK or anything that isn't a hagwon, i.e. private cram school. Mine is hell on earth and its certainly not the worst out there. I know public can be frustrating what with a korean co-teacher always in the classroom and large classes of students at vastly different levels, but, still, its much better than hagwon hell. I'm not sure about any sites specifically devoted to GEPIK, but if you haven't found it yet, dave's esl forum, can provide a lot of helpful information.

Chris Said:

To all the English teachers teaching foreign students to speak English... Please help.?

We Answered:

You should begin with finding out from the student WHAT they need to learn: do they need General Conversation? Business English? English to go to University? English so they can visit the sites in London? English to pass a specific exam?

This is called Needs Analysis and is explained in the link below.

When you have found out WHAT they need to learn, you can build a syllabus from there.
