primary school teachers !!!!!?

We Answered:

In public schools...The state gives you a course of study. That's basically a list of certain items that you have to teach before the school year is over. It doesn't really matter when you teach them or how you teach them, as long as you get those "standards" covered. However, many schools have programs and pacing charts in place that teachers use to go by. It seems like there is so much to teach and not enough time to get everything finished.

You don't really "get" lesson plans. You have to make them. That's the art of being a teacher! You can use someone else's ideas to make your own lesson plans, but you have make plans according to what your students need to learn. Let's say that your state standard says that your students need to "have an understanding of the distance of the planets from the Sun." You have to find out first what your kids know about the planets. If they know all the planets... great. In order from the Sun, even better. You can start there. There would be no reason to reteach them stuff they already know especially when teachers are always in a crunch to get things taught.

Teaching is a lot of work, but it's fun always getting to do new activities with students and helping people learn.

primary school teaching activities?

We Answered:

I have a lesson plan here that I used when I taught Year One about different habitats. Since I'm not sure what information you need I will summarise it for you.
Each one of my lessons has learning objectives. For this lesson they were:
- That there are differences between local habitats.
- To make predictions about the animals and plants found in different local habitats and to investigate these.
This is what I wanted the children to be able to do or know by the end of the lesson.
The lesson then has 3 parts:

Introduction: Choose two contrasting areas of the school grounds, classroom or local environment (e.g. pond and a forest etc)
As a class, predict a couple of plants and animals for each area what we think we might find there (animals/plants)

Main task:
The children need to write down the two contrasting areas (in their books) in the school and draw or write what they think they might find in either.

The children then will visit these areas in a group with the teacher or Teaching Assistant with their books and we will write down the things that we do find under each section and tick off anything they had said. If they cannot visit the area we can use books or the internet as a class to research what we might find there.

Plenary/Finishing task:
Talk as a class about what they found in each area and whether or not there were differences. If possible emphasise about “why” the places are different.

Together we will finish off the predictions we made with contributions from the children as to what we did find there.
We will then discuss their reasons why the places are different and what difference it makes to what we find there.

I hope you find this useful.
Good luck!
