Macbeth Lesson Plans

Regina Said:

What are some public-domain short stories that I might use for an online literature lesson?

We Answered:

Parker,

Here is an online public-domain book featuring **46 short stories** called "Very Short Stories and Verses for Children".

At a glance, the average size should be lower than half a page.

Earl Said:

Where can I locate a lesson plan about Shakespeare's connection with U. S. History?

We Answered:

MacBird, a play by Barbara Garson, uses the framework of McBeth to explore the Kennedy assassination.
Lyndon Johnson is McBeth. I read the play years ago, but can't remember much of it.

Since the central themes of McBeth are the wrongful acquistion and misuse of power, good parallels could be drawn between LBJ, Nixon or the current administration for that matter.

Since the closest thing we have to kings in the US is the presidency, its the most logical place to draw parallels.

Should I write my essay now or turn it in late?

We Answered:

i procrastinate a lot too. so i know how you feel. im doing my homework right now and its 5:30 AM. anyway, if you can, just stay home today and finish it then bring it in tomorrow. if the teacher asks why you were absent then say you had a stomach ache or a migraine and wouldnt be able to concentrate. if your parents dont care then stay home, if they do then just say that your stomach hurts. or just tell them the truth and you just need an extra day to finish the essay so you dont lose points.

Im 16 and I really want to be an actress!! What do you think?

We Answered:

It sounds like you have a great attitude, and you've done your research. kudos! Eighteen is not too young to get started in the business, especially if you have some training and experience.

Be careful when you look for an agent. Most of them are scams:
There are a few tip-offs that an agency is not legit:
- they have an "in-house" photographer
- they try to sell you classes
- they try to tell you that you need to go to a conference, or a "showcase" to be "discovered"
- they charge you a fee to join, and a fee to stay on the roster
- they charge you a fee to "audition" for them

Real agents
- don't advertise (they don't need to)
- work only on commission
- don't sell classes or photos
- don't make any promises

When it comes time to find a legit agent, talk to other actors, and check out the SAG and ACTRA websites for more information.
