Multicultural concepts lesson plan?

here are a few links i found that could give you many ideas specific to your situation. you can modify & customize accordingly.

if you already have students from diff ethnic/cultural/religious backgrounds, pick up certain aspects like stereotypes, prejudices, superstitions, practices, beliefs, celebrations, clothes, traditions, ..... & let each group share their knowledge.
then the class can compare first-hand the similarities & differences among them.
let them narrate real-life experiences & stories about their encounters with kids from another culture; how they felt; etc.
they would find that the differences are fewer than they thought.

in fact, you can also ask them to wear their traditional dress & bring their traditional food, & some symbol(s) that represent their culture/religion [eg book, idol, headwear, etc.] & kids can have a field day among themselves.
they would, however, be expected to know something about the background & beliefs...

"Stolen Summer" is a nice movie to show the kids. there may be some others like it too where kids from diff cultures become friends after misunderstanding/fearing one another because of their backgrounds.

the class could create its own story incorporating characters from diff ethnic b/gs. You could divide the class into groups & each group would research their assigned culture or country. let each group build its character [leave them free to choose the type of character they want]. once everyone is ready with the characters, weave them into a play that can be enacted in school.

hope these help
all the very best

I'm working on a lesson plan that has to be 15 mins long focusing on multicultural education but have no idea?

We Answered:

I would suggest doing a Powerpoint. Type in google Multicultural Education and find different education systems in all of the 7 (except Antarctica) continents like North America, South America, Asia, Austallia, Europe, and Africa. Where there is Less Education, let them know. Where there is a huge success rate of education, let them know. How do they treat them, what is their options and subjects, technologies they use to make it possible, tell them every single thing that will relate to education. I suggest a different slide (maybe 2-3) for every continent.
