Outsiders Lesson Plans

Earl Said:

question about the outsiders?

We Answered:

1. Ponyboy is 14
2. no clue! sorry! i don't think they mentioned it in the book either
3. greasers- johnny cade, two-bit mathews, dally winston, steve randle, sodapop, and darry (including siblings of course). he's also friends with cherry valance.
4. i'd say he likes to read and go to school. they mention playing football with his family in the book, too.
5. same as 4
6. i think he's a good friend best.
7. that he and johnny will be charged with murder which will in turn come back to hurt sodapop and darry.
8. to run away into the country is his 'plan' for when he grows up before he kills the soc. i think for most of the book his plan is to stay hidden with johnny, tho.
9. to prove that he shouldn't be judged just because he's a greaser.
10. that you can't judge a book by it's cover. sometimes you have to dig underneath to find the answers to your problems.

...i gave the best answers i could. i hope this helps you. i haven't read the book in a couple of years so yeah...

Catherine Said:

What would you think if you saw me on the ice (in name brand pants?)?

We Answered:

Ehh. Chloe Noel doesn't say "elite skater". The top would more, but as you matched them with Chloe Noel pants (not a problem with that; I have the spiral pants and wear them because I like the material and over-the-boot feature, not because they're a "status symbol") then no, it doesn't look "elite", as you said, because most elite skaters just have plain black UnderArmor pants or stirrup pants and then a tee, racerback top, tank/cami, etc... Also, people tend to know other people around the rink, their level, and sometimes even quite a bit of their business. And sometimes, you tend to notice that lower-level skaters have quite a different stance from elite skaters; it's just something you can kind of learn to pick up instincively over time.

Coaches (and other skaters, in some cases) do tend to give you weird looks with new outfits, no matter what the outfit is. Haha my coach lets me know right away whether or not he likes my new mix-and-match; I either get the blank "what is she wearing?" look or a shouted, "Hey, nice outfit! I like it!" across the rink. Other skaters would stare just because they're used to you in one certain outfit - after they look at your new outfit, they'll probably forget what the old one was anyways - and this is different. They're usually just curious and/or trying to make their brain process your face with the new outfit. Honestly, I recognize other skaters (ones I don't know personally, but even a bit on the ones I do know) best by their outfits. Skating clothes aren't like street clothes; they don't change on a day-to-day basis. So if I see the flash of a pink jacket go by, I know exactly who just about ran me over; if I see a tight black jacket versus a black Northface, I can distinguish those two skaters. Haha I'm not sure if you've noticed this or if this is just another thing that develops over time, but I don't think what you're wearing is a problem. :)

Lori Said:

Are the people I call "Friends" just using me?

We Answered:

Sounds like they're selfish and inconsiderate. You have a lot to offer as a friend and aren't recieving. You're only human and it's only natural to expect a friend to be there for you, cause that's what friends are for. They aren't there for you, you deserve better and more from a friend.

Wade Said:

My friends ignore me, are they using me?

We Answered:

no ur not.. sometimes some people arent meant to be in your life for that long..

Should I put a restraining order on this person?

We Answered:

If I understand you correctly, this person is physically holding your horse trailer as collateral for a loan he made to you. (Query: Did you sign a promissory note and a security agreement? Usually, the debtor keeps his or her collateral and uses it to produce income while the lender takes a security interest in the collateral.) So you consented to him holding your trailer as collateral for the loan.

Now he has run up a bill at your boarding facility that is greater than the amount of money that you owe him on the loan, but I can't tell whether you have sent him a bill and he has accepted it has fair and accurate or rejected it, or if you haven't sent him a bill at all.

Here's what I would do if I were you, I would send him a detailed bill and the total amount that he owes you. I would also suggest to him in writing that since his bill cancels out the sum of money that you owe him that the loan has been effectively repaid, and therefore you are demanding that he return your collateral immediately. After this, one of three things will happen, two of which should permit you to file a lawsuit and ask the court for a Temporary Restraining Order/Preliminary Injunction preventing this person from selling or otherwise interfering with your legal right to possession of the collateral.

After you make your demand, and it should be served in hand by a legal process server who can testify in court that he or she served him, he will either contact you and arrange for you to pick up the collateral. If he does, you should not try to do this on your own, and you should inform the police of the situation and what you are attempting to do and why you fear a set up. Or he will call you and reject the accuracy of your bill and threaten to sell or keep the collateral, or he will do nothing, from which you can infer that he is up to no good and plans to sell your horse trailer, if he hasn't already done so, and leave his horse at your facility indefinitely.

The last two scenarios should entitle you to a TRO/PI from the court when you submit an Affidavit detailing the lender's prior threat to sell the horse trailer despite the fact that you had not defaulted on any payment terms. You need to draw this picture fro the court that he was willing to engage in a self-help sale of the collateral previously, and there is a real danger that he will actually do so now since he has a bill that he cannot or will not pay.

Do not delay meeting with your own attorney for advice. However, I also would not delay getting a bill in his hands and a demand for return of your horse trailer as soon as possible. You then have established a foundation for your lawsuit and for your motion for the Temporary Restraining Order/Preliminary Injunction ordering the defendant to return the collateral pending resolution of the litigation.

Good luck.
