What adaptations would 2nd grade teacher make for kid has trouble reading for rhyming lesson plan(memory game

Integrate pictures of the words with the lesson. Identifying the picture with the written word could help him with both reading and rhyming.

Richard Said:

What adaptations would 2nd teacher make for kid that has trouble reading for making a terrarium lesson plan?

We Answered:

Keep the lesson plan the same as for all the other kids. Add small pictures to the directions and to any work that you feel the child would have trouble with.

Go to google.com and look up images for any words that you want to add to the lesson plan. You can copy the picture and paste it onto you instructions. (remember to delete the hyperlink or you will contstantly be transferred to the website the picture came from). With a little formatting you can adjust the size and placement to fit your lesson plan.

I do this for anything that I feel students have a hard time understanding. (English as a second language)

What do you plan to do with the class?
If he can read some, can you simplify the reading for him?
If he cant read at all, or you cant simplify it, you could assign him a reading buddy to read aloud for him, or you could read the assignment aloud for the whole class.
Include as many pictures (or real animals/objects would be even better) as possible - this will help the whole class learn and remember better.
You could make the whole assignment involve minimal reading by simply asking the kids to sort pictures of living/non-living things into two columns for living and non-living. Have a class discussion about what the differences are between living and non-living.

Discuss It!
