Don't make any rash descions. Juliet is very much alive. Her parents were going to make her marry Paris. She went to Friar Laurence to make a potion that would make her appear to be asleep. Don't be fooled. Keep a clear mind when looking over her body. Her lips and cheeks will be crimson which should indicate that she is somewhat alive. If she were dead, her entire face would be pale. Don't sob either. Kneel next to her bed, hold her hand, and wait till she opens her eyes. It'll be so romantic when she wakes up. As for the posion, get rid of it before you enter the tomb. It will make her depressed knowing that at some point you were planning on killing yourself, even if it was to be with her. I know it may seem crazy to believe that she is alive, but it is true. Don't do anything rash. Wait for Friar Laurence to come and ask him if you don't think that she will wake up. Kiss her and see if her lips are warm and not cold. The purchase of the posion is indeed overdramatic. However, if it is not used, no harm will come from it. Please believe the words that are written. If you don't you will never be able to embrace and kiss your beloved Juliet again. Don't let your emotions get the best of you my friend. Bring Balthasar down into the tomb if you are beginning to lose yourself.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS allow your students to get creative with Shakespeare and apply it to modern day. Absolutely allow them to perform bits and pieces in class. If you have the time in your lesson plan, plan out days where your students can all participate and read the play aloud through performance. I promise you, your students will have a much better understanding of the material. Shakespeare is tough stuff. And your students will have a lot more fun. Especially those with learning difficulties. Break a leg!

OOH. also. Allow them to experience different versions of Shakespeare's work in the film industry. Definitely use Leo Dicaprio's romeo and juliet as an example. For other Shakespeare plays...there's Get over it based on Midsummer Night's dream. There's Ten things I hate about you based on The Taming of the Shrew. There's the Hamlet movie with Ethan Hawke, and then there's the Lion King based on Hamlet. And maybe use Westside Story as a comparison to Romeo and Juliet.

2. Romeo gets banished. He will possibly be dead. might not see Juliet ever again. Will never be together.
3. Romeo buys the poison, and then proffesses love 2 juliet before drinking it. Juliet refuses 2 leave w/the friar, and stabs herself.
4. The nurse suggests that Juliet marry Paris and forget about Romeo. If she hadnt, juliet mightve told her about the potion. the nurse mightve warned romeo or saved/stopped juliet.
5. juliet has become more like romeo as she is starting 2 stop thinking rationally and be more risky. romeo hasnt really changed. young love is stupid, foolish.
6. What will now happen? Will Romeo and Juliet ever be together? will Romeo be killed?
