What Is A Lesson Plan
Thomas Said:
What are the most important parts of a lesson plan?We Answered:
The most important part of your lesson plan is the question, "WHY?" Why are you teaching this? What is the rationale in other words. What do you expect your students to get out of this lesson? You definitely need all the other components too as most of us have mentioned in the above answers. Unit, Topic, Method, Objectives, Materials, Classroom Management, Procedure, Assessment, Follow up...THey all have to be there.
Will you ever have to stop writing lesson plans? Never.
You need them for admin to see (and as teachers we really do think they NEVER read them...), you need them for your own organized thoughts - and you need them to continue being a good teacher.

Can someone help me with this lesson plan for Child Development? We Answered:
The hula is actually a great idea, and very easy! And the Hawaiian culture is so rich, there are plenty of other activities you can do to build on it.Rent the Lilo and Stitch DVD, it actually gives hula lessons for girls and boys on the "extras" part. But basically, you start with your feet together, knees bent. Step one foot to the side, then bring your other foot to it. Then move that foot back to where it was, and bring your original foot back to it, then repeat over and over in rhythm. When you've got that down, start swinging your hips as you step, then add your arms. I bet you can find something online about the arm movements, and perhaps even a specific song with the proper arm movements.
How about the Jewish culture - the Hora is a dance and the Dreidel game is very easy to prep for and teach. There should be plenty of websites giving out this information.
Good luck!

What is the difference between summary and conclusion in a lesson plan?We Answered:
A summary is a quick overview of what you were just writing about. A conclusion is to finalize what you were writing about. To tie it all together and end it. A summary usually comes right before the conclusion.Andrew Said:
What is the difference between a unit plan and a lesson plan?We Answered:
That sounds like a Unit plan. A lesson plan is actually smaller and focuses on a specific topic within the Unit. It may take only a day, but usually no longer than a week. The time depends on your state and the subject. Districts within the state set students schedules up differently. I am assuming that this 6th grade class is not in an Elementary school. So the school may have the class every day on the week for the whole year for 45 minutes a day. They could also have class for 90 minutes a day for half the year . This is called block scheduling because students go to class for a "block" of time, or they could have the class every other day for the whole year for 45 minutes. It really depends on what the subject is and how much time the state requires per year for that subject. But as long as the students have had a set amount of time in the specific area its okay.
Sorry it is a bit complicated...just imagine trying to schedule it!!!

Because it keeps you on track so that you don't wander around aimlessly.
