Writing A Lesson Plan

Tonya Said:

3rd grade lesson plan incorporating friction and speed?

We Answered:

When dealing with any science based lessons try to make them interactive. You could have students coast toy cars or something with wheels down a ramp onto surfaces with different textures (smooth floor, carpet, etc). This would teach students that the less friction present the more speed is capable.

Frank Said:

Where can I find a good writing lesson plan idea for an ESL or English class?

We Answered:

I believe I had the same type of class while I was in college. Here is what I did. I took a reading from an ESL class which compared two different sets of young people. The Israelies living on a Kibutz, and the Amish (during their time away from the group -- I can't remember the name), you know that time when they leave to see the outside world, and decide whether or not they want to remain Amish.

Anyway, then using a Venn Diagram, I had the students compare and contrast the two cultures. Using the Venn then were to then write a short essay with the findings. I realize that it made the assignments absolutely simple, but before I began, I gave them a sheet with the objectives required for the essay. I am sure it would have generated some really great essays, but of course, it was just a class assignment.

Good luck with this.

As an ESL teacher at the jr college level, I have used this technique, and it is very successful.

Marcus Said:

I'm writing a Lesson plan and need to get students involved?

We Answered:

An appropriate artifact, a photo, sound bite of traditional music or vocabulary, part of a costume - anything that will "hook" their attention. Just a great question will do to focus attention.

Jo Said:

I am writing a lesson plan for this and i need help thinking of a few objectives ?

We Answered:

Making inferences (guessing what they think will be inside)
Fine motor skills (opening the apple top)

Maybe you could have your students draw/color a picture of what they saw. An objective for this could be: remembering details.

Hope that helps some!

Terry Said:

I am writing a lesson plan and am having trouble fitting a state standard with my topic?

We Answered:

Perhaps say something about laws regarding the use of weapons in your area.
