Every province requires you study it in school. In Ottawa, core French is compulsory for every student that is not in French immersion (other places in Ontario begin in Grade 4, not sure if Ottawa does this or if they begin in Kindergarten) It is also compulsory in grade 9. After you pass grade 9 French, it is optional.

Yes, middle schools especially, and most high schools require a certain number of credits in science to graduate (and colleges require 3-4 years of science). I agree, I think it's the most important subject we teach - not only what we know about the world, but how we found it out and how we test ideas. It's all there - reading comprehension, mathematics, critical thinking, logic.

We call those "feeder schools", that they "feed into" X school, of that they "are all feeder schools of X Middle School".

nope. Not at my school or any of the others in Columbia county anyways.. I'm at Riverside Middle if that's where she's going and we don't have to wear anything to school tells us to except the dress code. Good Luck in Augusta, Great Place :p.
