How do I transfer high schools in nyc?

We Answered:

You have to ask your guidance counselor for a high school application. Right now it might be too early for you to do it because school just started. They usually have application around October and November. Once you fill out your application you have to give it back to your guidance counselor and have to wait till April to get your result. Then you go to your new high school sophomore year. =)))))

Brooklyn Technical High School or Bayside High School?

We Answered:

If you were accepted to Bayside's SMART program, which specializes in math, science, and humanities, then I would say that either school would be a great option. Considering that you were in fact accepted into Bayside's art program, and your interest is engineering, I suggest Brooklyn Tech. I attend Bayside and while I believe the math and science departments are both challenging and well run, Brooklyn Tech may provide a wider variety of math and science classes while providing an overall more challenging environment. Just don't think that by attending Bayside you won't be challenged; if you elect to take the more rigorous classes than expect to be putting in full effort to receive good grades. If you are in fact more interested in art than Bayside might be a better choice. The art program is one of the best in the city, and the students produce amazing work and end up going to schools such as Cooper Union (also a very good engineering school). Both schools will provide you with the large school experience that includes an abundance of sport and other extracurricular opportunities and a wide selection of classes. Being a student who has an engineering interest as well, I believe that Brooklyn Tech might suit your interest more, but don't think you wont be provided with a great math and science background at Bayside. Whatever choice you make will be great, and maybe I'll see you next year at Bayside!
