Bullying Activities For Middle School

Brenda Said:

what do you think of my letter against school uniforms?

We Answered:

I think it's a great letter. That will for sure get a lot of attention. Especially all those signatures!

Sam Said:

Ok, how do I persuade my mom to lift bedtime and curfew restrictions?

We Answered:

If this question is for real, wow. TMI dude. You could have left the entire thing blank except the last paragraph. You are 19. How much do you parents support you...meaning do you have a job? If you are fully dependent on them, I'd say it's only fair they have house rules. However I'd say that's a strict curfew. I had very strict parents growing up, but as I had my own job and proved myself a responsple 18 year old, I could stay out until 1am, and when I started college (still living at home) I had my own job and had no curfew, but as I said, I proved to my parents they could trust me and I wasn't out somewhere getting messed up. (Well maybe once or twice :o) If you haven't screwed up your trust with them by doing crazy teenage things, and you've been good overall so far- I'd just sit them down or at dinner, and ask them you want to re-think the curfew. You feel you are old enough and capable of handeling a curfew of ____ because you ____. If, however, you've violated their trust in some way or have otherwise been a little shi* I doubt they'll listen.

Kevin Said:

Why do I so badly want to ruin my life? Help?

We Answered:

i presume you read about the meaning of sociopath. If you had a problem something like that, seek professional help.
to answer your question, emotions like love take turns as ordinary emotions do. There are ups and downs. You don't like to steal your gf's valuables (weird feeling for the first time). You got depression from your family being inattentive to your good behavior, or being object of confrontations with mum/dad, being yelled at, among others
i believe professional help can do something about it. It helped other people they say.
goodluck,,,,

What do I do about being in love with two people?

We Answered:

i dont think it is possible to be in love with two people.
being in love is willing to do anything for the other person, give your life for them. and you cant do that with two people.
your best bet is to just think about the people, not your past with them, and you should see a clear answer who you really love

I'd like to start a GSA at my middle school. Suggestions, help, and/or ideas?

We Answered:

I suggest that you talk to your school management about it and then they can help you to set it up and guide you.

Troy Said:

I'm looking to start a gay-straight-alliance any suggestions for activities and discussions?

We Answered:

I'm president of my high school's GSA, and in the past we've done some of the things you have in mind.
We usually do coming-out stories once a year, maybe twice if we get new members, and that makes for really good discussions, especially with National Coming Out Day on October 11th. We also host meetings at the school about one night a month for LGBTQQIAA people throughout the community, not just students. Additionally, we've had bisexuality vs. bicuriousity group sessions, basically comparing and contrasting the two, and telling why it's okay to be both; those discussions have been particularly great. And while I do understand about the hesitation to bring up AIDS in a middle-school environment, it's sort of a key thing to touch on. If I were you, I'd ask whether the members wanted to discuss it first, and take it from there.
I'd also recommend letting people know that while GSA is a group for awareness, it can be used as a support system as well. Cathartic discussions (especially about touchy or personal subjects like bullying, or coming out) can sometimes be pretty intense, but they're really some of the best meetings you can have as a group.
And as far as books and movies go, they're a great idea, especially for start-up sessions! We've watched quite a selection of films, many of which had been suggested by members, and really the only problem we've had with it was that a lot of good and relevant LGBT films are R-rated. We had to send home permission slips once or twice, but no one's parents were really against it.

Woooooooooow, I certainly hope that was as useful as it is long~ Anyways, I wish you the best of luck with your endeavors, and please don't hesitate to email me if you have questions!
Sometimes starting a GSA is difficult, but from my experience, it's one of the best things you can do for your LGBT classmates.

Good luck again,
Bella

Connie Said:

How can I change school districts, in the middle of the year?

We Answered:

Generally you need permission from your old school and permission to transfer into the new school from them.

Either one can deny a transfer, unless you make a legitimate change of residence into the new district.

Discuss It!
