The Million Dollar Question--Chances of getting in?

We Answered:

Colleges ask for unweighted grades, so don't worry about that. Your reach schools are great for astronomy and physics, but your others aren't well-known for those fields. U Washington is great - a friend of mine got into Princeton after doing her undergrad there a few years ago. Other great schools would be U Arizona, U Michigan, Ohio State, U Virginia, U Florida, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and UMass Amherst. Consider getting involved in something related to physics and astronomy, like joining a local astronomy club or doing research with a local professor if possible. Show colleges you're interested.

Getting into a top college?

We Answered:

lol sounds a lot like my HS life =P. ok it looks like you can handle all the subjects and the extracurriculars but just need more time. A 2100+ in the SAT is what you really want to aim for if you want to attend Ivy League. You really don't have to worry about getting that A+ in every single Honors class as colleges realize and appreciate the intensity and difficulty of a subject. Taking a variety of classes shows that you are able to appreciate all kinds of disciplines and the fact that you are taking normal Latin goes to show that you are a determined student. Try to get at least 1 hour of study everyday, read a lot and participate in the extracurriculars on the weekends or if you have to, after school. Believe me when I say after all the trouble, reading that Admission Letter with your friends and family makes it all worth it. Best of luck to you mate! =)

Can I get into Johns Hopkins, Middlebury, Cornell, or Columbia? Where can I go?

We Answered:

Well I think you should try for some more community service like maybe do that over the summer or also I noticed you weren't the president or leader of any clubs so try to be the leader of a club because that helps as well.

Currently i think you have about a 50-50 chance at middle bury and Johns Hopkins and if you do my suggestions then 75-25. For Cornell and Columbia since they are more selective I would say 25-75 or if you improve 50-50. Lastly the SAT is key try to get 2000+ and I think for most of those you need to also take SAT subject tests.

Beautiful reversion story! RAMADAN?

We Answered:

i absolutely loved this part :

Finally, about eight years after first buying my Qur’an, I read:

[This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favor for you, and chosen Islam as your religion.] (Al-Ma’idah 5:3)

I wept for joy, because I knew that, way back in time, before the creation of the Earth, Allah had written this Qur’an for me. Allah had known that Anne Collins, in Cheektowaga, NY, USA, would read this verse of the Qur’an in May 1986, and be saved.

and this one ::

Finally, one day in early November 1986, as I was working in the kitchen, I suddenly knew, knew that I was Muslim.

Masha'Allah =)

amazing story.. very touching.
