Middle School Help!!!!?

We Answered:

Hey I'm in 8th grade, but my middle school starts at 7th garde so my answers may be a little tweaked.

Math is wicked easy (for me). In my school, they were trying to prepare you for middle school. Since you are already IN middle school it shouldn't be that hard. There will be fractions, maybe one or two units on it. Really easy though (at first they will do basic multiplying/dividing/subtracting..the works). Mostly they are focusing on Pre-Algebra (that more in 7th grade..in 6th you are preparing for it.) It's using equations and algebra...really easy and straight-forward.

Gym--ahh gym. Since you are in Middle School that means you will get a gym locker to put all your stuff in. (I recommend getting comfy sweats and a white shirt for ur gym clothes...something light and comfortable.) You do the same things, mostly basketball, volleyball, football...and if your school has a track course (we did) then during football the girls can walk around the track if they want. Field Hockey, just the main stuff. They are all easy and you WILL survive! Keep in mind, in middle school they do a "fitness test" where they test your strengths. (How many push ups/crunches yuo can do in a minute, flexibility test,) those are really short and easy.

Haha Health? Well in my school, in 5th grade we had one "puberty class" where the boys and girls got seperated and talked about puberty. In 6th grade we were put together and talked about it all together! (the boys learned about the girls, vise versa) In 7th grade we did not have the sex talk (that's in 8th grade i believe! eeek) you learn about drug abuse (weed, cocaine) drinking, the "health triangle" it's really boring trust me...:-P

Spelling Bee--that's great!! No you won't be a nerd!! lol my friend did the spelling bee up until college and she got into an Ivy League school! If you really like to then go for it! It will help you in English as well. The whole nerd vs. jock thing isn't really real. You certainley do not sound like a nerd. In my school, even the "coolest" kids (cheerleaders too) were on the math team. Middle school is the best time to get involved in a lot of activities.

Student Council--well, I was on "Peer Leaders" which is different than Student Council, but i had friends on the council. Mostly you are just have meetings where you decide the "theme" for the dances, you help with community service, you give announcements to your class about upcoming events...it's really easy and i heard its fun too.

Newspaper--well i wasn't on the newspaper team...sooo...haha sorry!!

First Day--RELAX. The first day is the EASIEST day! Especially since it's a new school. The teachers go wicked easy on you. Just bring a notebook and pencil and a folder. The teachers will give you handouts to take home, and you can write down things you want to write down (the teachers will explain how their classes work, and what to bring...) the next day you can go to the school store and get allt he things yuo need.

My bus comes to my house at 7am and I get up at 5:30am and still ahve a lot of time leftover. (i take morning showers too). You need yuor sleep..the first day I got up at 5am and was soo nervous the whole morning. Get up at 5:30am and you will be fine.

And lastly--RELAX. Middle school is a HECK lot more fun than elementary school! I was SOOOO nervous my first day--but trust me, it's SO easy and yuo have NOTHING to worry about! It's really fun! The teachers are great, you gain a lot more friends, and you feel so much older! You'll be GREAT!

How much should I charge to tutor a boy in math in preparation for 7th grade?

We Answered:

I agree. You should charge somewhere between 20 and 30 dollars an hour. After all, you are taking time out of your schedule to help them with their homework.

If you want to be a tutor, you should consider listing yourself in a tutoring directory such as net-tutor

Gail Said:

Do I have a chance at getting into this school?

We Answered:

It doesn't hurt to submit your recommendations and your application.

We are not the Review Board, so it is hard to tell whether you will get in or not.

The worst they can say is, "No," and if that happens, just look for another school.

WARNING: One of my friends went to a highly competitive boarding school in Wisconsin for a year and then came back to Minnesota for his junior and senior years and they didn't accept his credits from Wisconsin. If the school is not in your state, make sure the credits will transfer from your current school to that school, and vice-versa if you want to switch back to your current school...Or else you have to take the classes all over again.
