Do you have to repay pell grant if you marry in middle of school year?

We Answered:

Your maritial status is as of the day you completed the applicaiton. so if you were single when you completed, you are single the whole year and you are not required to list your spouses income.

HOWEVER, next year, you will have to list if you are married and that will be the determination of your pell status.

Grants for middle-aged workers wanting to return to school?

We Answered:

Never say "never", but the answer is 99.98% likely to be "no".

To the very limited extent that retraining programs exist, some states have made grant money available to displaced workers who find that their existing employment skills are outdated, making their job search fruitless.

Given the very limited number of funds available for even that type of "life line" assistance, I would say that it is extremely unlikely that any programs will support established and employed workers who wish to seek graduate education in a professional field.

I suppose the only possible source of such funds would be programs that provide for the specific training of lawyers who will contract to devote their professional lives to the extremely low-paying work of social service law and non-profit organizations. You should check with local social service agencies for more information on the availability of that type of program.

Otherwise, no. I am not familiar with any programs - certainly not national programs - that will subsidize the law school dreams of full time employees.

Good luck with your law school plans!

College grants? middle school?

We Answered:

You would not ordinarily need a college grant until you are in or ready to go to college/. Grants are usually given until the 12th grade for students who will be entering college. There is no reason to give it earlier since your record of achievement and even of need has not been finally formulated./
