Popular can fall under all sorts of categories. Everyone wants to be popular and fit in.
To be popular, you shouldn't compromise your belief system. Be yourself and the person you are. Don't change just to be popular.
There is this saying," What is popular isn't always what is right, and what is right isn't always what is popular." Remember that!

I would say you need to become involved in school aactivities Join a sports team, run for elections, and go out of your way to be nice to people.
i became popular in Jr. High by doing volleyball. I also ran for student gov and won pres. I met so many kids in the election process and so many afterwards. By running for elections, you get your name out there, so people begin to know who you are.
Go out of your way to talk to people and be nice. Everyone likes a nice girl. Talk to those kids who are misfits. They really appreciate it and it makes their day.
Just be yourself and enjoy middle school. Don't worry too much about being popular. It doesn't matter in the big picture of life. Just be confident in who you are through middle school and don't do things you know are wrong just to be popular. I got through Jr. high and i did fine. You will too :)

Another tip. Don't think you have to have a boyfriend in middle school. Some people think you should and that to be popula, you have to date. trust me, you don't need a boyfriend that young. Most boys in middle school are immature. A boyfirend will only distract you from the things that matter and it's not like you are going to get married one day. Just have friends that are guys, don't date them in middle school. Wait until your older and you can deal with a mature relationship.

In middle school you may find maneuvering difficult due to the limited time you have to hang out with your friends. However, your best bets are to genuinely like all the other students, and try to talk to as many of them as possible. This doesn't just mean occasionally, but act friendly with every person you interact with.

You may find it to your advantage to become friends with the currently popular social leader. Don't think of them as an enemy or as someone you want to overthrow, just make them your friend.

Make sure that you're nice to them, but don't be too nice, and don't be any nicer to them than you are to anyone else. Furthermore, don't allow them to demonstrate power, or dominance while you're around. This means that if they walk up while you're talking to someone else, you don't stop talking and face them, and you don't look down. Always understand that you are their equal, and that everyone else is also their equal.

If the social leader sees you as a friend, and not a follower or an underling, they're going to treat you as such. This will cause the other students to see you in a better light as well.

Don't let befriending the social leader take a higher position in your attempt then befriending anyone else. Try to make friends with everyone around. The more people you make friends with, the more people you'll find are interested in being friends with you.

Trust me being popular in middle school is not worth it. But if you really want to become popular, join a sport, dress preppy, be a social butterfly, but most importantly BE YOURSELF!

I know its probably really hard dealing with the other students in your class. You shouldn't focus on trying to be popular, rather try
to develop a set of really good friends that you can always count on and trust.
I dont think there is anyway to become more popular among other students. Its just one of those weird things that either happens or doesnt.
You will come to realize one day that it doesnt matter. What
really matters are the real friends that you still have in your life.
