B4 you come down this way, stop at the Ginza for me eh? j/k Come straight down 101, do not stop in Gilroy for ice cream if it's festival, and come see us in Ventrua..Ojai is 20-30 min from beaches, Oakview, where I lived a wile is between Ojai and Ventura. It's also horse country if you are interested. Ojai has Nordoff HS, a very fine school indeed, though I attended Ventura HS, and have friends that went to Buena Vista (VHS RULES! eh lilaac? ). As long as you live in the surrounding area, you can find affordable housing. Ventura a is a very diverse city, with something for just about everyone. BTW, if you check a map, we're about 90 from Magic mountain (CA 126/I-5) and Disneyland in Anaheim, among other fun places. :)

If you manage to find a job in an economy with literally no jobs, Texas has one of the better employment rates and California has one of the worst... also, if you manage to be able to pay for an expensive apartment on top of out of state tuitions on top of regular tuition which more than doubles your tuition fees since you are not a California resident. I would say go to school there and once you have your degree try applying to jobs in California and don't move until you have an official job lined up. It isn't just hard to people with no experience (even most people WITH experience) to move here, a lot of people who live here haven't found a job in over a year, it is almost down right impossible to live here right now.
