Middle School Activities.?

We Answered:

Baseball (or softball) would be good for you. I know I sound like a geek, but Science Olympiad I heard is pretty fun. (My friends from a few years back won a gold medal because they were messing around on the computer and made this random design.)

Thomas Said:

What are some fun in-school activities for middle/high school students?

We Answered:

I don't know about the Student of the Month thing...that just seems like a lottery for kids that try too hard.

Most will see it as social suicide if they're picked.

Get a comedian that connects with kids to come in - humor is great, and you can tie it in with an educational theme

Jeffery Said:

Can extra curricular activities from middle school count when filling out a college application?

We Answered:

Unless your middle school activity was something amazing - you won US nationals in figure skating, you were a member of the US Olympic diving team, you won the US Congressional Medal of Honor, you were Jodie Foster and starred in films, you were a missionary for your church and lived in Macau, preaching - then no, do not list your middle school activities.

A Red Cross certification from 11th grade does count. List that under awards.

Sally Said:

Can you put activities from middle school on your college resume?

We Answered:

Usually only high school activities should be used. I would, however, make an exception in this case./

extra curricular activities for a middle school girl?

Middle School
Try to steer your middle schooler toward activities that reinforce learning and get him away from the TV. On average, middle schoolers spend an equal amount of time every week watching TV and socializing with friends — about 20-25 hours apiece.

To improve academic performance, encourage your preteen to spend time volunteering, to join school clubs like band, chess, or foreign language clubs, or to sign up for extra-curriculars with a leadership element, such as the school newspaper or student council. It will help him feel more connected to the school community while forging friendships based in common interests and experiences. As always, keep an eye out for signs that he is over-extending himself with after-school commitments. As a general rule, he should be spending fewer than 20 hours a week participating in after-school activities.
