Although you get high school credit for middle school classes like Spanish and Algebra 1, the grade you get in it does not affect your high school gpa, only your middle school gpa.

Grades from non-final grading periods do not count at all; they only tell you your progress.

Midterm and finals do not count either, only your final grade. So say for example you failed a final exam but still got a good grade in the class, you have nothing to worry about.

If your high school is counting the French 1 and 2, then those courses will show on your transcript somehow and colleges will see you had 3 years of French. If those middle school classes are not written on your high school record, colleges will not know and not have any interest in what you did in middle school. They realize that all of us change from time in middle school to high school and they only want to know about your education and life in the 4 years preceding college.

The same way you calculate the rest of your GPA - convert your grade to a letter grade on your school's scale, then the 4.0 scale. Multiply that by the number of credits the class was worth, add them all up, and divide by the total number of credits.

Most likely not.. My school was really strict with a no class change policy unless its a serious issue. Theres a chance your school could be lighter on the rules if you have a really nice counselor.
