Middle School Games

Julian Said:

Acting Games for the Middle School Drama Club?

We Answered:

Scenario Soup. Get into groups of between 5 and 10. Someone goes up and does a very short scene, for example, they are calling their mother at a pay phone because they are lost. The teacher or a designated person tells them to stop. Someone else from the team goes up, and the restart the scene with 2 people. When the next person comes up they must add something. For example, they are impatiently waiting to use the phone next. Let that scene play out for a little while and have a 3rd person come in and add something else. Take the scene back a bit, doesn't have to be all the way to the beginning. This game just gets crazier and crazier the more people come on the better.

Another one to do is Hitch-hiker. Set up 4 chairs in a car-like fashion. Start with a driver sitting in the appropriate seat. Let them pretend to be driving. Then someone stands outside the "car" and put up a thumb like a hitch-hiker. The driver pretends to stop and the hitch-hiker gets in. The hitch-hiker has thought of a "tic", a personality or habit. Someone could have the habit or flicking their hair every 2 seconds. Or they could have an extremely high pitched voice. The driver must them take on the tic as well. Then another comes up and has a different tic, and everyone in the "car" must take on the tic as well. and it goes on until the car is full. This is good because it's fun to watch and actually play.

Phillip Said:

i want to be a soccer refeere for like middle school or high school games, what do i have to do to be one?

We Answered:

There are two types of certifications in the U.S.

FIFA is the international organization and it's affiliate in the USA is United States Soccer Federation (USSF). You would need to find your state USSF office to find out when and where referee clinics are being held. Club and recreational teams usually play under the auspices of USSFand will follow the FIFA Laws of the Game.

US High Schools are organized under National Federation of State High Schools (NFHS) and they have a set of high school soccer rules, written by themselves. They do this with all of their sports.

If you want to get NFHS certified alone then it is possible to just do that. However, most officials begin with USSF, which has a better training and mentoring program, and then attend an NFHS clinic to cross-certify.
