Help with a co-workerWe Answered:
It sounds as if she keeps dumping her issues on others, whether they ask for it or not, while doing the least amount possible in her position.Since administration has already been talked to and nothing has been done (I'd be shocked here but...), maybe leave the district and go somewhere else? If the woman won't listen to *others* criticism..which is sounding more like she loves the sound of her own voice than anything else..can anyone persuade her to retire?
I hate to be the negative one here, but I'd just shut my door and tell her to go away. If she starts in on her issues, I'd either counteract everything with my own problems or tell her I don't really want to hear it, we all have problems, deal with it. The problem is you are hitting the point where you are disliking your job because of her, and that can be construed as a hostile work environment.
Teachers of this caliber really need to go ahead and leave the field, whether it be through retirement or other. When it hits the point where the faculty is getting dumped on because others can not do their share of work or they just put up with a needy teacher the situation no longer is 'what is best for the student?'

Would you like your 12-year old girl or boy asked these questions at school about their sexuality? We Answered:
That's funny - the "opt out" form went home the same day the test was administered! Comedy of errors!Brenda Said:
Alternate career for a current high school teacher? We Answered:
Hello,I "feel your pain." I tried teaching as a second career and experienced the exact same thing. I loved teaching and being in the classroom but could not stand the rest of it (including weird and pointless politics).
Here are some alternate career thoughts for you:
Think about corporate training. Many big companies have their own internal training departments. You will be paid so much more and the work environment will be so much better. Start looking at the employment pages on Fortune 500 web sites. You might also want to look at Management Consulting companies which typically provide leadership training courses to other companies.
If you don't mind travel, look into Franklin Covey. They have a bunch of trainers that go around to corporations and teach time management and such. I've taken the course and the instructors love their jobs.
Health you say? Hospitals also have training needs and sometimes internal departments.
You might want to think about starting your own business that is education related (that is what I do). The market is huge and I believe there is a lot of room for innovative products and services. Think: How can I make a teacher's life easier? How can I help students succeed? If you can come up with some creative answers to those questions, you just might have a viable and profitable business.
Have heart! You have lots of good options. You are welcome to email me.

What`s your opinion about New Sex-Ed Curriculum? Lessons Cover Homosexuality, Condoms? We Answered:
Schools need to talk about it. Just recently by watching Oprah I found out that when you get AIDS you can get it again from somebody else who has AIDS and it's a whole different NEW virus!! That bugged me out! I couldn't believe it. They never told me that in high school. Nor did we ever talk about being gay. So kids need to have the UP TO DATE information because it makes a BIG difference in the long run.Shelly Said:
I am a teacher who is teaching health ed. and want kids opinions? We Answered:
I thin you could teach the kids how to have a healthy body _ Girls are always trying to loose weight and boys are always trying to bulk up- If you can teach them both how to do this a healthy way, i think you will get their attention. Also, you can always teach the dangers/side effects of drug use. They will be tempted in no time and if they see the downfalls and are able to go on field trips, see movies, and do research, they might be able to stay away once they get into high school.
Sex ed. is always an attention grabber as long as you keep it modest because they are so young- im assuming you will need permission slips but yu can visit planned parenthood and have teen moms and dada come talk to the class... Guest speakers are always good because it is a new face.
hope this helps- if i understood your question right.
