Middle School (7-8 grade) science projects on Human Behavior/physchology?

We Answered:

1, Opening umbrellas when it is sunny- observing others reactions
2. Try to make others yawn by yawning
3 Trick or treat on a random day - observe reactions
4 Ask someone if it is okay if they get a hug - analyze reactions

Hope that helps

How can I get Middle Schoolers' attention?

We Answered:

1. Don't be too gentle with students. When teacher shows their place from the start, they don't become noisy or naughty later. I think it's the most important. For example in my school there's math's teacher respected by all of us, because from the start she showed that she won't be tolerating any noise during the lessons. At first we were kind of afraid of her, but know she is one of our favorite teachers.

2. Create good marking system. For example, write pluses and minuses for homeworks. That will make students to do at least some exercises. I think it's also valuable to include exercises which students solve in class into exam (control work?).It will boost attention during the lesson. One of our teachers use additional pluses method. During the lesson we separately are solving exercises and after the lesson we leave our notes to teacher, she corrects it and writes addition point which are added to control work. (1 exercise = 0,5 points).

Wish you so much luck. I really admire people who resolve to be a teacher because it's really tiresome but important job. Remember that the good teacher is that, whose students write exams good and not that, whose lesson are loose and students can do whatever they want. I hope I helped you even a little.

Ideas for 5-Minute Fillers in general or science classroom?

We Answered:

well...this has nothing to do with science, but in english my teacher plays this game called high and low. we talk about the high of our weekend and the low of our weekend.(the good parts or bad parts)
we also did this thing called 2 truths and 1 lie, where a student writes 2 true statements about themselves on the board and 1 false statement. the class had to guess which is the false one.
i'm in 9th grade, so this is probably ok for kids in middle school.
oh...also play black magic. its kind of hard to explain, and i'm not sure if you will like this idea.
first, you find someone in the class that knows how to play. then you take him to the hallway. and the rest of the class picks an object ...wait i found a good link that explains it better.

if you play games like this..your kids will probably think you are a really good teacher

Easy Middle School Science, and I'm going to Fail it?

We Answered:

Sorry, but this is homework *help*. You haven't even tried to do this on your own. My main evidence for this is that you didn't bother to fill in the one item describing your own observations: there's no way that we can supply what you observed.

Second, we can't help with some of these questions without you typing in your experimental notes. You *did* weigh all of the materials both before and after the experiment, right? You haven't supplied us with those masses.

As for the reaction equation, it's relatively simple: the calcium and sodium traded places. Put that into words according to what you've been doing in class lately.

The final question is easy enough: if you weigh everything carefully, *this* experiment can serve.

Now get back to your lab notes, fill in the missing information, and give this a good try on your own. Post again when you get *stuck*.

what would teenagers want to see in a science show?

We Answered:

For chemistry, I know it's pretty impressive to drop a small lump of sodium into a beaker of water that has an acid/base indicator in solution.. for one thing the sodium will bust into flames and the water will turn whatever color indicates a strong base... Best as a demo for safety reasons, of course.

For structural engineering, have participants build the tallest free standing tower with just one sheet of paper and no more than a total of something like a yard of tape. Cutting of both allowed.

anything that glows, or involves electricity.. Tesla coils, that sort of thing.. lasers and optics.. Natural gas in soap bubbles make an impressive flare...

How about presentations on genetics, molecular biology, cellular machinery, and how it relates to the growing field of nanotechnology.
