I did this project in the sixth grade:

The Floating Egg

Fill a cup with salt water and one with fresh water. It'll float in the salt water. Look it up on Google for more details. For a report, look up Archimedes and the effects of buoyancy because those both have to do with why the egg floats.

I'm not sure if this is the type of project you were really looking for, but it's free to do. You probably have salt, water, and eggs at home (you only need one and you can cook it after you use it).

i did this in 6th grade.. its pretty easy-
i won the fair too!

It mesures how much carbon (carbonation) is in each soda.

just take, 2 liters of different types of soda (diet pepsi vs pepsi, mountain dew, sprite etc,

put a baloon on the top on them, carefully unscrew the cap with the baloon on top. this makes all measurements exact.

wait 3 hours for all the carbon to inflate the baloon, then measure the circumfrance of each baloon (the larger the balloon, the more carbon)

make sure to take alot of pictures!
also i had to write a paper about soda, (i did the history and process of making it)

To involve students let them taste the pop (free samples), then have them guess, which soda is more "fizzy". reveal your results... VOLA!
