Good Idea For Middle School Level Science Projects? We Answered:
A few ideas would be :Colors and Moods
Does the color blue make you feel calm? Does red make you mad? This science project determines if colors have an affect on a person's mood.
OR
Human behavior(Smell vs. Taste)
If you smell one thing and then eat something different, can you identify the flavor of what you have eaten? This science project determines if your sense of smell affects your taste sense.
OR
Music and heart rate
Can hearing a particular song physically affect your body? This science project determines if different types of music have an affect on a person's heart rate.
I hope this helps you:D

Any good advanced middle-school science projects? We Answered:
For my advanced chemistry class in 8th grade I was asked to separate the different inks that make up the colors in a pen or marker. The main idea (also called the "purpose", in scientific terms) was to investigate a method that works even when the substances in a given mixture mixture (the marker ink) are present in only minute quantities. The process used in this experiment is called "Paper Chromatography".Equipment:
*plastic bottle containing about 20 cubic centimeters of water (I used a plastic ice mountain bottle)
* various pens and markers (examples: green felt tip pen, black overhead marker, orange marker)
*a strip of filter paper
* rubber stopper that will fit in the mouth of the plastic bottle comfortably
*scissors
Procedures:
1) This experiment is so simple to perform but produces amazing results. To start, use scissors to angle one end of your filter paper (cut off the edges so it makes a point)
2) Draw a thin line in the marker you chose for this experiment across the strip of filter paper about 2 inches above where you angled it.
3) Insert the strip of filter paper (angled end down) into the bottom of the bottle so it just touches the water. (MAKE SURE IT DOES NOT TOUCH THE SIDE OF THE BOTTLE WHEN YOU INSERT IT).
4) Bend the top of the filter paper that overhangs the mouth of the bottle and insert a stopper into the bottle.
5) Now watch as the ink from the pen seperates into the colours that were combined in the first place to make it.
6) Take the filter paper out when there is a white space between each of the seperate inks.
You can answer the following questions for a conclusion:
-How many different ink colours were combined in the first place to make this ink?(Count the number of different colours you saw when you seperated it)
-Can you put the seperated ink colours back together again to make the original ink? (Yes, and if you want to do this, I've listed how to below)
How to make the original ink color once you seperate it:
1) Cut out the section of your filter paper that contains the ink for each seperated colour.Cut the ink color paper into very small pieces.
2) Obtain a test tube and add a very small amount of water into it. Insert the filter paper for one seperated colour.
3) Stir the test tube contents until you see that the water is dyed the colour of the seperated ink, and remove the now blank pieces of filter paper.
4) Repeat this for however many seperated ink colours you have. Now try to pour all of the dyed water into one test tube, and see if you can get the original colour of the ink you chose. Congraulations! You've completed this experiment! You have sucessfully seperated an unknown mixture of inks and dyes and then put them back together to see if you could produce the original ink colour!
As for a science presentation, I would have different inks from markers and pens in the bottle while I explained to others what was happening. Then I would remove the strips of paper and show people my results!
I personally enjoyed this experiment very much! This may be the experiment that made me love chemistry SO MUCH today...
Good luck future scientist! :)

What are some cool middle school science fair projects? We Answered:
If I had a dollar for every time this question is asked ...As references, I've listed a wealth of sites with a wealth of project ideas. Thanks to Former MN Science Teacher for many of them. Check out the past winners/entrants at the scisvc.org site for more difficult projects. If you find better references, please tell me.
Be creative. Don't waste this extremely valuable experience by copying someone else's idea. Focus on what interests you. Choose the best and most interesting project that you're confident you can accomplish in the time allowed. And allow plenty of time. A really good science project looks very good to college admissions officers, especially if the fair judges agree and award you a prize. You want to show that you can think, reason, manage a project, do proper experiments, write your results clearly and accurately, and that you're willing to work. Do your own research. Do your own work. Get help and get advice. Teachers and people in industry are often very willing to give advice and to make equipment and facilities available to someone who really cares about their project. It's a great experience.
(YA limits me to 10 links, so I split them between the answer and the references.)
