It's not bad, not bad at all. Your syntax needs a bit of work. The dialogue between Ashley and the narrator could be separated a little bit better. Two minor peeves on my part: what father would sign a note to his daughter with his first name? And the "OMG"...please lose that. In my opinion, text-speak never looks good in a story.
I have recommended this book to many others, and I will recommend it to you. Find a copy of "The Elements of Style" by William Strunk Jr. and E. B. White. It is an invaluable aide to any aspiring writer.
