Games to get kids interested in reading???

We Answered:

Wowsers! 25 books...that seems like a mountain, especially if you are not a strong reader.

I thought about it though, and wonder if this would work....First of all, I wouldn't tell them in so many words the goal is to read 25 books in the year. What I would do is make a standard Quest...A Quest to find the answers to a few standard literary items...such as the hero, the villain, the plot, and whatever else Grade 6's know these days. As they read the books, they enter that information on a ticket - with their name and title of the book. Have a draw for a prize at the end of every month of the year of the reading project. The more books they read, the more Quest tickets they fill out and the better the chances of winning. (Put the winners name back in the draw). There has to be a limit of chances, of course, to be "fair" which is 25. And even if your name doesn't get pulled you get a prize if by the end of the year you have entered 25 Quest tickets.
Maybe you could get sponsors for the gifts from your community, so everyone knows what is going on, and encourages the kids to read and fill out the Quest tickets.
How's that sound to you? Good luck and I hope it is fun for you and the kids.

Seth Said:

I need the name of a short story I read in middle school.?

We Answered:

Could it be "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber" by Ernest Hemingway? In this short story, the husband and wife go on safari, but instead of leaving him there, she shoots him instead of a buffalo.

Carlos Said:

should I play games with my students?

We Answered:

I think being there for support is one thing or officiating a sport event is one thing but participating is a touch out of line unless it is a method lesson where you actually have to show by example how to drop your shoulder and drive to the hoop.

Middle school drama please read?

We Answered:

Like just ignore her I mean really? if she does this all the time she must have no life at all I think it's stupid on how kids do that she's probably just trying to get attention or trying to make herself feel better. Like she probably is one of those people who will try to piss you off and you do something to her so she can snitch on you. I'm in middle school too and i hate drama.Middle school drama is about one small thing and people make it into bigger things so I think you should just ignore her because if you keep paying attention to her she is going to keep doing and if she does anything else go to like your guidance counselor sometimes you can write it anonymously and your not being a snitch by doing that.
