:D I was on the yearbook staff last year (middle school). My school's mascot was a lion so on the cover, there was obviously a lion and there was stuff like the solar system, a medal, a basketball, a volleyball, art supplies, instruments and stars on top of it, movie reels andddd there was a camera taking a picture of all of it.. My yearbook had a "movie" theme. And we picked a line called "Remember the Lions" originally from the movie "Remember the Titans" LOL. Anyways.....
For your theme, you could try Hollywood, Travel, Music, Foreign Places, orr you could make the whole book look like a laptop or computer (that'd be so cool), or you could make the theme be about the "Future" and put flying cars on it or the school floating or something. It'll show that you're all graduating and thinking about the future? I personally like the laptop idea though. lol Good Luck!

You could do a sketch of a bear(If you look at it,drawing a bear is nothing more than drawing a furry human that's crouched over) in black and white,sitting near a river or something(You could have it standing up if that would be easier);Then,splashes of color here and there(Like,the water,or the trees,grass,etc.)

Another thing you could do is simply bear pawprints going up the cover.

What does "classes" cover. As in the subjects? Or the grades?

If it is the subjects: You could break all the subjects and cover them separately. So, do one story/page/photo collage on English/Comm. Arts, one for Math/Science, etc.

If it's the grades: You could do something for each grade. I don't know. Like, the pros and cons of the grade or do some sort of middle school timeline starting from the first day of sixth grade to the last day of eighth.

Some ideas could include:
Have a theme of 'what a year it was' and provide a nostalgic and informative look back at the people, places and events that made the year special. It's good to highlight and provide a record of those who stepped-up and participated in the various activities from the flashy events to sports, clubs, the band, cheerleaders etc.
