Air Force Rotc Scholarship
Jim Said:
How many Air Force ROTC Scholarship recipients are chosen every year?We Answered:
About 2000 Cadets give or take a couple hundred graduate AFROTC every year... So fewer than thatStella Said:
How hard is it to get a type 2 in college air force ROTC scholarship? We Answered:
It depends...If you don't have good grades in college, it would be almost impossible to earn a scholarship. Also, what you plan to major in could be a make or break factor. The USAF wants to give out scholarships for technical majors (math, chem, comp sci, eng, etc.) and certain foreign language scholarships. Some of those scholarships are being handed out like candy, in that you will earn a type 2 scholarship as long as you meet a few basic qualifications. These are called "express scholarships". If you google that term, you should find a boat-load of information on how to earn one. Best of luck, and thank you for your interest in national service!

Is it hard to get an air force rotc scholarship? We Answered:
Yes, it is very difficult to get an AFROTC (Air Force ROTC) scholarship. It's difficult in any branch though. It is worth the effort because you can get just about all of your college schooling paid for. You have nothing to lose by applying. In terms of applying for one, you should go to the AFROTC website. (www.afrotc.com) Also try the Army's ROTC website (www.goarmy.com/rotc/). At these websites they'll have all the information you'll need about applying.
As to whether you should do Air Force or Army, consider what you want to do and look up what you can do in those branches. It's all about what you think you will like better. Also, I don't believe the benefits are very much different, but if you go to the afore mentioned websites, you can find out what's in the package. Hell, you could even apply for both.
Military.com and Todaysmilitary are probably the best sites one can find if you're trying to compare the branches. Just research 'em and pick the one that suits you.

After 2 year Community College can I get an Air force ROTC scholarship? We Answered:
You can get a scholarship while in community college or after community college. The shortest scholarships are 2 years in length, so you will need to have at least that much time left in your degree, but you can join AFROTC while still in community college and get a scholarship. Scholarship caps do not apply to community colleges, so when you transfer, the scholarship amount will increase as your tuition increases as a result of attending the 4-year school. Your first step would be to visit the AFROTC detachmetn at the 4-year school and discuss your plans and option with the UAO at the det. (Just ask for the UAO and anyone at the detachment can get you in touch with him/her). You can also go to afrotc.com and get more info including contact info for the detachmetn you are considering.Kristen Said:
Should I apply for an Air Force ROTC scholarship first or apply for a 4yr. university first? We Answered:
Apply to the university that has either a AFROTC det or a crosstown agreement with one that does. You will sign up for ROTC just like English or AlgebraWe can actually get you through in 2.5 years with a split option but not everyone qualifies. Plan on being in the program at least 3 years until you talk with the det.
