Apply For Scholarships
Maurice Said:
is it possible for a 11 grader to apply for scholarships? We Answered:
Sebas:Generally, "no", but it won't be long until it's time for you to start applying.
Most scholarship competitions seek to select winners for the "next" academic year. There's most definitely an "application season" - which usually runs from about November through April. Winners receive notification from April through June that they have been awarded a scholarship for the coming year. Very few scholarship organizations will allow you to "bank" a scholarship, and hold onto it for future years. They'd rather that you leave the scholarships to the students who need them now, and hold off until it's time for you to need a scholarship.
Also keep in mind that scholarships are competitions - you're competing with dozens, hundreds, or possibly thousands of other applicants to be selected as a winner. The committees compare your qualifications to the qualifications of all of the other applicants - which simply means that high school seniors are likely to have a significant advantage in terms of their accomplishments. They've taken higher level classes (which are more college-like), earned more grades, and had more time to do community service and assemble strong letters of recommendation.
If you are scholarship material, there is no practical benefit to applying "early", other than trying to get some kind of peace of mind that your financial concerns have been addressed. You'll be a much more competitive applicant next year, when you are applying with the other students in your senior class. You should be spending this year assembling a good list of scholarships that you'd like to apply for next year. Make careful note of the application deadlines and requirements, so that you'll be organized and ready to go. You can start writing essays now, and polishing them for your future use.
Good luck!

Can you apply for scholarships to a University after doing 2 years at Community College? We Answered:
You should contact the Financial Aid Office of the College that you want to transfer to after your 2 years at the Community College to find out how to apply for aid. Each financial aid office has its own priority filing deadlines. You should also contact the Financial Aid Office of the Community College that you want to attend to ask about applying for financial aid, too.

Lydia Said:
How to apply for scholarships online? Where can I find the free scholarships resources? We Answered:
Applying for scholarships is usually confusing if you’ve no experience with it, but if you ever break the method down into these following steps, you’ll be able to see exactly how to discover funds for higher education and win awards over the competition.Step 1: Search for Scholarships
Use any one of the no cost scholarship or grant search engines about the internet:
Profile-based Grant searches:
* Fastweb – Find Free College Income! Use FastWeb’s free of charge scholarship or grant search to find details on more than 600,000 scholarships
* ScholarshipExperts – An additional top-quality scholarship or grant research engine is available for totally free at ScholarshipExperts
Step 2: Identify which eligible scholarships you need
Just since you are eligible for the scholarship, that doesn’t mean it is worth spending your time to apply for it!
Step 3: Review the Sponsor’s requirements
Make a checklist of each and every part from the request. Take note of every essay question, required letter, and required transcript. Pay special attention to the number of copies in the practical application that the sponsor needs – several times they want 1 total practical application for each and every member from the grant review committee.
Move 4: Complete the Application and Double Check
99% of mistakes are made by incomplete or wrong information in the application.
Step 5: Ask for someone else to Prove the Practical application
Even in case you think you’ve got the ideal request ready, uncover a person older who can guide proof it for common spelling and grammar mistakes. Also ask them to review the practical application requirements and confirm that everything is OK. Parents, teachers, and guidance counselors might be a great support in this final phase.
Step 6: Get your scholarship or grant income (maybe)
Scholarships are normally not guaranteed, in reality most non-government scholarships that claim to become guaranteed are likely to be grant scams (Particularly if they want payment up front).

Terry Said:
are there any guaranteed scholarships to apply for?We Answered:
Nope - scholarships are based on a lot of factors. Even if you meet all of the requirements for the scholarship, it will also be based on how much money is available, and how many applicants apply for that money. The best bet is to apply for as many scholarships you can, and see what shakes out.Wade Said:
Do college scholarships apply to colleges outside the US?We Answered:
It depends on the scholarship. Most scholarships from the college are only available to citizens and residents (and furthermore, often limited to in-state or in-province); and most scholarships from a certain country are only available if you attend a college from that country. But key word, most, not all. I'm a Canadian studying in the US on a full fellowship. So they are definitely available. Bottom line, don't let it deter you from applying to Canadian schools.
